Recently, a scandal has shaken the sports world. NBA phenom Zion Williamson is at the center of it, as adult film star Moriah Mills is threatening to release a sex tape featuring the two of them.

The news comes on the heels of the New Orleans Pelicans power forward announcing that he and his girlfriend, Ahkeema, are expecting their first child. Mills, 31, took to her Twitter account to call out Williamson‘s alleged “dual life,” spilling intimate details that shocked her 1.1 million followers.

She even shared screenshots of her supposedly conversations with the basketball player to prove that she‘s not bluffing. Despite this, the New Orleans Pelicans still seem to stand behind the power forward, as they are reportedly trying to aggressively trade up before the upcoming NBA Draft.

On the court, Zion Williamson is nothing short of remarkable, putting up 25.8 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game with plenty of electrifying dunks.

However, an injury kept him sidelined for much of the 2020–21 season, bringing his career total of games played to just 114 in four years. Despite the magnitude of the ongoing drama, it remains to be seen what these allegations mean for Williamson‘s career. The unpredictable world of basketball is often a place of surprises, and now it‘s Zion Williamson‘s turn to face them.

The one thing we can say for sure is, the scandal has given Moriah Mills her 15 minutes of fame.

The real question is, is there really a sex tape, and can she release it?

In the end, it doesn’t matter if there is a sex tape, without prior written consent of all parties involved in the sex tape, then the tape will never see the light of day.

In accordance with US law, both Zion Williamson and Moriah Mills must sign a release form, as well as provide their IDs proving they were both over the age of 18 at the time the movie was produced. Without all of these things, namely, the signature giving permission to release the sex tape, then if anyone leaks so much as a single frame of the movie, they are in violation of “revenge porn” laws, which can come with some serious jail times.

Revenge porn is the sharing of private, intimate images or videos of someone to shame or embarrass them, often shared without the subject’s knowledge or consent. It is sometimes used as a form of revenge against an ex-partner or former friend.

Revenge porn is illegal. It’s viewed as a form of harassment, sexual abuse, or other form of nonconsensual publication of nudity or sexual activity. There are varying degrees of punishment for breaking this law, depending on the specific laws in the area where the person lives. But the long and short of it is, even if there is a sex tape, a person can’t release it without the written permission of both parties.

So then how did all those sex tapes get leaked in the past?

They didn’t. A sex tape “leak” is nothing more than a marketing stunt. No sex tape has ever been released without getting signed releases from all parties involved.

This includes but is not limited to the Kim Kardashian and Ray J sex tape, the Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee sex tape, and the Paris Hilton – Rick Solomon sex tape. There are more, but I think you get the idea. A sex tape can’t be released without both parties agreeing IN WRITING.

Actually, there was one sex tape that someone attempted to leak without the proper documents. In 2013 the gossip website Gawker attempted to release excerpts of the Hulk Hogan sex tape without his written permission. They posted just a few still frames of the video proving it was real.

Hulk Hogan sued and won something like $140 million in damages. Gawker had to file bankruptcy and ended up shutting down before eventually being sold off at a bankruptcy auction for less than $1.5 million.

So as you can see, even if there really is a Morah Mills Zion Williamson sex tape, without both of them agreeing to release it in writing, it just won’t happen. Sex tape distributors are more than willing to make a deal, but they aren’t willing to put their business at risk to do it illegally.
