Randy West, the legendary adult film performer and director, passed away on September 20, 2024, at the age of 76. West was known for his extensive career in the adult entertainment industry, which spanned nearly three decades and saw him perform in over 1,500 films. Born in New York, he would have turned 77 next month.
West entered the adult industry in 1977 after a chance opportunity following a magazine layout for High Society Magazine. With his rugged charm and charisma, he quickly became a well-known figure, eventually starring in iconic series such as Up and Cummers and Raw Sex. Over his career, he worked with and helped launch the careers of future superstars like Jenna Jameson and Tera Patrick.
In addition to his work as a performer, Randy West transitioned into directing in 1993, creating over 250 films.
One of his notable moments outside the adult film industry came when he body-doubled for Robert Redford in Indecent Proposal (1993).
Despite his larger-than-life persona on screen, West admitted that the demands of his career made it difficult to build traditional relationships. He was never married and had no children. Randy West had long struggled with heart issues, surviving a near-fatal heart attack in 2009. Unfortunately, his battle with medical problems continued, and he succumbed to a heart attack on the morning of September 20, 2024.
West spent his final years in Las Vegas, where he participated in charity golf tournaments and enjoyed a quieter life after stepping away from the industry. Known as “the ol’ trail boss” by his friends, he will be remembered for his rawhide toughness, sense of humor, and unforgettable contributions to adult cinema.
He leaves behind a legacy as a pioneering figure in his field and will be remembered fondly by friends, colleagues, and fans alike.
Rest in peace, Randy West.
