Emily Willis Multi-Million Dollar Defmation Case Continues

LEGAL NEWS STRAIGHT

The legal proceedings against Gianna Dior continue in the high-profile defamation lawsuit. Emily Willis seeks damages in excess of $5 million, and she’ll get her day in court after all, despite the fact that she’s in a coma.

The lawsuit, originally filed in October 2021, accused both Adria Rae and Gianna Dior of falsely alleging that Emily Willis participated in a scandalous video involving sexual acts with a dog, leading to defamation and significant harm to Willis’s career and reputation.

Willis claimed that after the pair tweeted the false accusation, she received calls from several producers and others within the industry asking her about it. “Beyond the obvious economic harm, this was extremely embarrassing and distressing,” the suit said. “But worse, to untold others in the industry and in the consumer base, [Willis] may never have a chance to fully clear her name.”

New Update on Emily Willis: Family Shares Progress Since Coma

The case attracted considerable attention and has seen several twists and turns since its inception.

According to the latest filing, both parties involved in the ongoing case against Dior have submitted a “Joint Stipulation to Continue Trial and All Dates Related Thereto.” The document, filed in the Superior Court of California, Los Angeles County, indicates that both the trial date and the final status conference have been rescheduled due to unforeseen circumstances.

A key reason for this continuance is a serious medical condition suffered by Willis earlier this year. The filing reveals that on February 5, 2024, Willis was admitted to a medical facility in critical care and was in a coma for over two months. While she has shown slight improvements in her health, she remains incapable of proceeding with the litigation at this time.

In light of these health issues, an Emergency Guardianship and Conservatorship Order was established in July 2024.

Willis’s mother, Yesenia Lara Cooper, has been appointed as the emergency guardian and conservator for Willis. This means that Emily Willis’ mother will act on her behalf and continue the fight for her daughter’s legal rights.

The guardian (her mother) intends to file an application for the appointment of a Guardian Ad Litem to represent Willis in this case, but additional time is required to file the appropriate paperwork and allow the litigation to continue, which is why they are asking for a delay to the start of the trial, which was scheduled to begin in November of this year.

A Guardian Ad Litem (GAL) is a person appointed by a court to represent the best interests of an individual who is unable to represent themselves, typically a minor, an incapacitated adult, or someone otherwise deemed legally incompetent. The GAL acts as an advocate in legal proceedings, ensuring that the individual’s rights and interests are protected.

Given these circumstances, both parties have agreed to a continuance, rescheduling the trial to August 18, 2025, and the final status conference to August 4, 2025.

The request for a continuance is the second such request in this case and has been deemed necessary due to Willis’s health condition and the need for additional time for legal preparations. Both parties assert that no prejudice will result from this further delay.

The case against Gianna Dior is now scheduled to proceed into 2025. The extension allows time for Willis’s legal representation to prepare adequately while accommodating the serious health concerns impacting Willis’s ability to participate in the proceedings.

The original lawsuit was filed against both Gianna Dior and Adria Rae. Emily Willis agreed to drop the case against Adria Rae as long as she would make a public apology. Adria Rae tweeted a pre-written apology, basically stating that she was sorry she didn’t check the validity of her statement before tweeting about something else someone had told her.

Sadly, Adria Rae deleted the tweet as soon as Emily Willis filed documents to dismiss the claim against her. This isn’t Adria Rae’s first problem online. In fact, she’s had her Twitter account suspended on at least three previous occasions. On at least two previous occasions, her Twitter account has been suspended for abusive behavior and bullying.

However, Adria Rae did make a public apology to Emily Willis, and Emily agreed to drop the case against her as a result.

With the case against Adria Rae dropped, Gianna Dior is left to face the accusations of defamation on her own, as the case continues to make its way through the court system.

As I said before, Gianna Dior stands accused of spreading a vicious rumor about Emily Willis, claiming Emily Will had sex with a dog.

Like Adria Rae, Gianna Dior is no stranger to drama, either. A few years ago, Gianna Dior had a run-in with law enforcement when California Department of Justice special agents, with assistance from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, executed a search warrant at the residence of  Gianna Dior, who had attempted to purchase ammunition. The search resulted in the confiscation of one handgun and two standard magazines, stating she was unfit to own a firearm due to serious mental illness.

The attorney general’s office said, “Our commonsense law requiring background checks for ammunition sales not only can save lives, it keeps our communities safe,” Attorney General Xavier Becerra said after announcing the stay on the injunction last week. “Violent criminals and people with serious mental illnesses shouldn’t be able to get their hands on ammunition.”

Here is a photo of the actual items seized from Gianna Dior.

A source close to Emily Willis claims that she was “bullied” by the Gianna Dior, Adria Rae, and their friends. “They were relentless. They made fun of her all the time. They hated her and tried to get people not to work with her. When that failed, they spread the rumor about the dog, and that spread like wildfire. It was all anyone talked about for months.”

At the time of the incident, Emily Willis was one of the most popular performers in the industry, having won multiple awards, including the 2021 award for the Female Performer of the Year.

“The more work Emily would get, the meaner they would be to her. It was a really ugly time in Emily’s life. She faced so much hate from other girls in the industry.”

Emily Willis would eventually take some time off from working in the adult industry for her own mental health. She spent that time pursuing some mainstream projects. However, according to the source, “The things they said about Emily really affected her mentally. It was no doubt a part of what led to her eating disorder, which ultimately led to her heart attack and subsequent coma.”

If true, that makes what happened to her even worse. It’s heartbreaking to think about how much she was hurting.

The original trial date, which was scheduled for November 18, 2024, has been pushed forward to August 4, 2025.
