Emily Willis’s family has released a new poem that speaks to her strength and resilience. This move comes as fans continue to wait for updates on her condition, which have been sparse since she awoke from a vegetative coma in May.

The 25-year-old was rushed to a medical facility in Thousand Oaks, California, on February 5, after suffering a cardiac arrest. Updates from her family indicated that although she regained consciousness, she remained unable to speak and could only track objects with her eyes. Since then, there has been little information on her progress.

In the absence of a formal health update, the family updated Emily’s GoFundMe donation page with a poem about a resilient Capricorn woman. The poem describes a woman moving through life’s complexities with strength and grace. Its tone suggests a message of hope and fortitude, perhaps indicating some level of progress or simply reinforcing the family’s faith in her resilience.

The poem reads:

“In winter’s embrace, beneath Capricorn’s gaze,
A brunette with fire, through life’s complex maze.
Her beauty, a beacon, in night’s deepest dark,
Her spirit, a flame, forever to spark.
With courage as armor, and grace in her fight,
She moves with a purpose, her goals in plain sight.
Her beauty, not just in the curve of her smile,
But in her fierce will to conquer each mile.
Capricorn’s daughter, both lovely and strong,
In her heart, there’s a power, where all dreams belong.
Through challenges, she dances, with life, she entwines,

The poem’s release has sparked speculation among supporters, suggesting that Emily might be making some progress, or at the very least, that she is still fighting her battle with determination.

Earlier this month, Dr. Gareth Nye, Programme Lead for Medical Science at the University of Chester, provided his medical perspective on Emily’s condition. He suggested that she might be suffering from “locked-in syndrome” due to brain damage following her cardiac arrest. Dr. Nye explained that this condition involves a patient being fully conscious and aware but unable to move or communicate verbally, with the exception of eye movements.

“It is encouraging to see that she seems to be conscious, recognizes people, and can track with her eyes,” Dr. Nye noted. “However, it is highly likely she is suffering from a condition called locked-in syndrome.” He further explained that this condition is caused by a lack of oxygen to the brain stem, which affects all communication to and from the brain.

While some patients with locked-in syndrome can develop a basic form of communication through blinking and eye movements, full recovery and regaining normal movement is extremely rare and could take years of intensive rehabilitation.

Emily’s ordeal began in March when her stepfather, Michael Willis, revealed that she had been in rehab for substance abuse and suffered a cardiac arrest eight days into treatment. Although initially suspected to be an overdose, toxicology reports came back negative. Emily was reported to weigh only 80 pounds when she checked into the facility, although it is unclear if her weight was a factor in her medical emergency.

Although a true mega star in the adult industry, she recently began making the transition into mainstream. Last year she starred in the Steven Soderbergh movie “Divinity”, which is now available on Apple TV. The film had its premiere at Sundance Film Festival on January 21, 2023 and was released theatrically in the United States on October 14, 2023.
