Anne Bryne, Founder and Co-Owner of The Dungeon Store, recently wrote an article for Xbiz on violet wands and things to consider when selling them in retail stores.

“With pretty tubes filled with neon colors, arcing electricity with an ear-tingling crackle and zap, violet wands look futuristic and exciting,” explains Bryne in the article. “A violet wand is in essence, a sexy radio transmitter, pumping out electrons. When the wand touches skin, the electricity moves across the skin as opposed to through the body.”

While violet wands have been around for over 100 years, they only started making their way into the pleasure product market in the mid-90s, through experimentation in the BDSM scene. In the 2000s, a major transition came about as solid-state violet wands began to replace older, mechanical models. These have made the curious toys more affordable to the kinky community and practical as a pleasure product.

Anne Bryne has over 20 years of experience with violet wands. She sells them, teaches classes on how to use them, and even co-produces educational videos on violet wand techniques. Her company, The Dungeon Store, makes many violet wand accessories in-house.

“There’s a lot of discussion about them in the BDSM scene, and my hope is this article makes retailers more likely to embrace violet wands as a pleasure product,” notes Bryne. “Violet wands are a very stimulating instrument in the bedroom and it’s a delight to help everyone understand more about these daring devices.”
