A group of nearly 20 adult film performers has launched a new digital ad campaign titled “Hands Off My Porn” aimed at raising awareness about the potential impacts of Project 2025, a right-wing initiative that seeks to, among other things, outlaw pornography and criminalize its creators.

The $100,000 campaign will target viewers in several swing states, including Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Georgia, Arizona, and Nevada, with ads appearing on adult content websites. The ads will warn viewers about the potential consequences of Project 2025 and direct them to the Hands Off My Porn website for more information.

The Hands Off My Porn website features safe-for-work video testimonials from performers like Siri Dahl, who discuss the dangers posed by Project 2025. The site also provides resources for voter registration and encourages donations to the political action committee Artists United for Change.

“In my 12 years since I started my career in the adult film industry, I’ve seen a lot of political attacks on our industry,” Dahl stated in a press release. “But Project 2025’s plan to make pornography illegal and throw all the pornographers in jail is really the worst example yet.”

Dahl emphasizes that Project 2025 represents an attack on personal privacy and is unconstitutional. This sentiment is echoed by other performers involved in the campaign, including Cherie DeVille, who expressed concern about the potential impact on personal freedoms, sex workers’ rights, and the adult film industry as a whole.

“These policies have the potential to undermine our work, our rights, and our ability to create content safely and freely,” DeVille explained. “This is about protecting our livelihoods and ensuring that sex workers aren’t pushed further into the margins.”

Research from SWR Data indicates that concerns about cultural and political attacks on the adult industry are widespread among performers, with nearly 89 percent expressing worry. Transgender performers (93 percent), creators of color (94 percent), and gay and lesbian creators (100 percent) reported the highest levels of concern.

The “Hands Off My Porn” campaign aims to mobilize viewers and raise awareness about the potential ramifications of Project 2025, encouraging them to take action by registering to vote and supporting organizations dedicated to protecting the rights of adult film performers and the industry as a whole.
