It’s Halloween, So ‘Tis the Season to Don Our Goth Apparel

As someone who was “there” when punk, New Wave, and the noir music labeled “Goth” began to intermingle, I’ve always been curious about what has happened to the sounds and aesthetics that got me taunted in the rock-and-roll cheerleader-ruled halls of my high school. For me, every day is Halloween and few things are sexier than a well-appointed Goth.

Here are 10 of my favorite enigmatic, eerie, macabre, sinister, and quirkily eccentric Goth femme fatales on TikTok. As usual, the ladies are listed in alphabetical order as not to appear biased.

When Merveystar removes her vampy Goth makeup, she’s still hot, just way more approachable. Most of the videos on her TikTok account show her giving tutorials on how to replicate her impressively applied cosmetics. Whatever look she attempts, she succeeds. Emily from Corpse Bride. Morticia from Addams Family. Edward from Edward Scissorhands. Black Swan? White Swan? Sad Demon? Dr. Who angel? Bride of Frankenstein? Lily Munster? Vampira? Elvira? Jessica Rabbit? Be still, my barely beating heart! Astrid is gorgeous and naturally pale with striking blue streaks in the long hair on either side of her face. Caprece is not your everyday waifish Goth babe. She’s a slim, dark-skinned, and whimsical young Goth who loves loves loves the color pink. And damned if she doesn’t make it work! Not every stylish Goth lady shops at Hot Topic. Eve Pain is just such a stylish Goth lady. She and her doting husband proudly show off their collection of late 19th-century/early 20th-century shoes and garments. She walks through ancient cemeteries in moody splendor. She is at times severe, always beautiful, and ever in-control when she’s in full makeup and garb. She’s not afraid to show her bare face, though. Less flashy sans makeup, she is still a tattooed bundle of fresh, fun energy. She joyfully shows off her new purchases, which leads me to ask somebody to please give her a box cutter. A female friend or family member who uses a motorized wheelchair visits Eve’s TikTok account several times. It’s unexpectedly touching to see Eve become a nurturing, patient, sweet, London Calling t-shirt-wearing, inked-up elder Goth who loves her guest.

Eldergoth crone. I’d never heard the term before I visited Queenie’s TikTok account, but now I love it. The experienced gothic artist promotes her compelling paintings, dolls, and illustrations of cats and bats. The woman is a Goddess of Gothness. Her long hair is bright red and black, her home is Goth as hell, she collects Chinese hand fans, and there’s a red velvet lined coffin leaning against the living room wall.
