Exclusive Interview with Richard Mann, Director of World of Mann: True Sluts

For anyone who has been in the adult industry for a while, Richard Mann is a man who needs no introduction. The 58-year-old star began working in the adult industry in 2004 and since then has gone on to star in over 800 scenes during the last 20 years.

Richard Mann, an acclaimed performer and director, has achieved remarkable success over the years, securing multiple prestigious awards. His accolades include back-to-back wins at the AVN Awards, where he clinched the Best Foursome/Orgy Scene award in both 2023 and 2024. Additionally, Mann has been recognized at the XBIZ Awards, winning the Best Sex Scene (Vignette) category consecutively in 2023 and 2024. This string of victories underscores his consistent excellence and prominent standing in the industry.

Richard Mann has delivered outstanding performances in numerous acclaimed films. Among these, "Deep Inside Jennifer White," from Evil Angel, stood out as a fan favorite last year. Given his successful track record, it's hardly surprising that Mann has recently secured a directorial contract with the same company.

His Evil Angel directorial debut, "World of Mann: True Sluts," is eagerly anticipated and is scheduled for release on both DVD and Video on Demand on May 1, 2024. This new venture marks a significant milestone in Mann's career, promising to showcase his talents behind the camera.

I thought it might be fun to sit down and chat with Richard Mann about the movie, "World of Mann: True Sluts."

What inspired you to move from acting to directing, and how has that transition been for you?

I have been directing for as long as I have been acting. Before I got in the industry I had plans on starting my own subscription site, distributing dvds etc. It was the original goal. I had only got in the industry to get my face seen to draw people to my website and go to the store and purchase my dvds. But I was offered a contract that was too good to pass up. I then seen that contract as a way to fund something bigger and better than what I had originally envisioned. Then I wanted to be in the industry and go as far as I could.

Can you tell us about the inception of "World of Mann: True Sluts"? What sparked the idea for this film?

"World of Mann" comes from Richard Mann's World. The concept being to follow 'Richard Mann around the world as he fucks the nastiest Slut'.

What challenges did you face during the making of "World of Mann: True Sluts," and how did you overcome them?

To be honest, I had none. Things tend to run very smoothly on my sets. I've doing this awhile so that's where my experience comes in.

As a director, how did you approach casting for the film? Were you looking for anything specific in your actors?

As a director, when I'm casting, I'm looking for those that can perform. I'm looking for high energy, great personalities, and can work well with others.

Can you share a memorable moment from the set?

I think it was the Rebel Rhyder scene. The tumbling part she did looked so real. It took three takes for her to get it just right. I was good with the first take as I did not want her to injure herself but she was not happy with that first take, she wanted to get it perfect, to her liking. She is a true performer.

How did your acting experience influence your directing style or decisions on this project?

In that I always want the type of scenes I'm known for, the high energy 'hardcore' type shoots. I look for performers that can do those type of scenes.

What is the main difference you found between directing and acting based on your experience with this movie?

There are a lot of little details that go into directing that most people don't think about because, as a director, you are responsible for everything. Everything has to be right: the lighting, the sound, the set, the performers, the setting of the cameras, etc. It all has to be right for things to turn out as I want them to. When in front of the camera, there is none of that, I can just relax and focus on my performance.

What was your favorite part of the filmmaking process as a director?

That I get to call the shots and make the type of film I want to make, I can now express my ideas. I can put what is in my head out for the world to see, and I had a ton in there. The world is gonna love The Adventures Of Dick Mann, which I plan to start making in a couple of months. I also love working with all the equipment, and when I get it all right, the sense of accomplishment is a feeling that can't be duplicated.

I know that your scenes are quite popular over at Evil Angel, so I'm excited that you're finally getting a DVD release. Do you have plans to direct more films for Evil Angel in the future?

I have always wanted to be a director at Evil Angel. I have always seen them as the place where I belong. They are a huge company, and they put out the type of films that I make hardcore fucking. Richard Mann and Evil Angel are the perfect fit. Let's just say, I'll be at Evil Angel for as long as they will have me.
