Mini-golf lovers who visit Philadelphia and want a fun way to spend time exclusively with other adults have two unique locations to choose from. At each, visitors can drink, eat, and putt to their hearts’ content. For those who can’t make it to Philly but love to knock a ball around a high-tech or whimsical course with a golf club, there are some franchises throughout the country with more being added regularly.

Crafted for adults who don’t want their night out with friends to be entirely centered around alcohol, both Puttshack and Libertee Grounds offer creative mini-golf courses, a wide assortment of internationally inspired dishes, and both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

Libertee Grounds has been providing adult-centric socializing and recreational space in Philly since 2021. An Asian-infused bar food menu that’s even friendly to vegans, vegetarians, and those who are gluten-free, is available to keep guests from hunger’s door while they indulge in “hyperlocal beer” and cocktails between trips to the links or lively discussions about the sporting events on the television screens.

With two courses, each featuring nine holes with whimsical Philadelphia themes and a drink caddy, as well as a golf simulator, there are plenty of opportunities to wear ugly plaid golf pants while having fun. Those who want to sharpen their mini-golf skills can sign up for private lessons from the Libertee Grounds’ in-house instructor. Other games available for guests include tabletop shuffleboard, a variety of board games, darts, giant Jenga, and the very naughty-sounding cornhole. Reservations for mini-golf are recommended but not required.

Opening just this February, the 13^th U.S. Puttshack, which describes itself as the “world’s first and only tech-infused mini-golf experience” is the latest player in the grown-ups-only mini-golf market. Taking up an impressive 26,000 square feet of The Shops at Liberty Place in Center City Philadelphia, the location is the 17^th Puttshack worldwide. Showcasing traditional mini-golf games that feature four “upscale tech-infused” courses for a more immersive and interactive game experience, DJs spin tunes throughout the week and live entertainment provides dance options in the evening.

With Puttshacks throughout the world, it’s not a surprise that its menu reflects its international reach with snacks and full meals including chorizo and cheese empanadas, Korean bao buns, and, exclusive to the Philadelphia location, a cheesesteak flatbread. Available to wash them down is a collection of mocktails, craft cocktails, and a variety of local brews and seating available for 26 around the televisions and another 185 hungry golfers in the dining area. A second and private full-service bar awaits those who reserve space and time for celebratory events such as engagement parties, weddings, bachelor parties, bachelorette parties, divorce parties, birthday parties, or business team-building exercises.

Those going to Puttshack for the mini-golf, it is as unique as the person playing, and that’s not an exaggeration. Each guest will create a player profile that will be synced to their golf ball. The ball keeps track of the golfer’s score, number of holes played, and any bonus points earned. Their profiles will be available when they return to play another round.

There will soon be 20 other locations in the United States, none of them on the West Coast (so far?), and four in the UK, where Puttshack is based.
