ORANGE CHICKEN
INGREDIENTS;
- 1-2 chicken breasts
- 5 oranges
- 2 cups Orange juice
- 1 cup Brown sugar
- 1 cup sugar
- Vinegar
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1 tablespoon Cornstarch
- 1 cup Panko breadcrumbs
- 1 cup Flour
- 2 Tablespoons Rice Vinegar (or White Vinegar)
- 2 Tablespoons Soy Sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon Ginger
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon Red Chili Flakes
- Orange Zest from all oranges
RECIPE;
ORANGE SAUCE;
In a medium pot; add orange juice, sugar, vinegar, soy sauce, ginger, garlic, and red chili flakes. Heat for 3 min
Whisk 1 Tablespoon of cornstarch with 2 Tablespoons of water to form a paste in a small bowl. Add this to orange sauce and whisk together.
Continue to cook for 5 minutes until the mixture begins to thicken. Once thickened; remove from heat and add orange zest.
CHICKEN;
Tenderize chicken breast, Trim the fat, cut into pieces
Marinate the chicken in egg & soy sauce in enclosed container in fridge for at least one hour
Set skillet on medium high with vegetable oil
In a medium bowl, mix together panko bread crumbs, flour, & salt
Take chicken out of fridge, coat heavily/evenly in panko mixture, then set to fry in pan until barely golden brown on both sides
Place chicken on baking sheet tray (aluminum foil or baking parchment) to cook in oven at 350 degrees.
Flip the chicken & cook for a total of 35 minutes then put in orange sauce mixture until fully coated
Tips;
Garnish with shredded lettuce or green onion
Leave chicken to marinate overnight for ease & stronger flavor
Pairs well with white rice
