The XCritic Interview: RayRay

She's got a Logo and a hastag to go along with it. RayRay has branded herself as the #RockPornAllStar and she makes no bones about it. In fact, RayRay will take as many bones she can get her hands- and holes- around. She's as cute as a button, but don't let that fool you. If you take this girl home to mama (which you technically can't cuz she's happily married), the new queen of gang-bangs might be pulling a train right up to the family table. Interested yet? You should be. RayRay is like nothing you've seen before, and don't say I didn't tell ya, but she's planning to take gangbangs, the swinger lifestyle, and porn to a whole other level.

When I announced my plans to go to Exxxotica in Chicago, Erika Icon from The Rub PR let me know that RayRay was going to be up there. This was going to be her first Exxxotica. I was happy that she was one of the first performers I met up with. We talked for a few minutes out on the floor and then sat down a little later. I hit the record button.

RayRay made it easy. Despite her newcomer status, the girl is making waves; yet she’s about as open and laid back as they come– and if that comes off like a play on words having to do with her affinity for gang bangs, then fine. It fits. Oooops. Another one.

Seriously though, RayRay is as simple and down to earth as anybody. She’s real, she’s genuine– you’ll like her. Talking with her was a blast, one of the many highlights from a few days in the Windy City.

Give us 10 minutes or so, it’ll be fun.

Jim Steele- So, RayRay, let's see here, how old are you? I think that you told me you were 28.

RayRay- I'm almost 28. I'm 27 now.

Jim- All right. And you're from the Midwest, Ohio, is that correct?

RayRay- Yeah, I live in Columbus, Ohio.

Jim- Okay. But do you still live in Columbus or are you flying all over the place?

RayRay- I permanently live in Columbus, but I travel wherever I need to go for a shoot.

Jim- Erika at The Rub PR is your public relations. But I understand or I don't think that you have an agent. You self-book, correct?

RayRay- That's correct.

Jim- Okay. How does that work out? You're booking your own flights, you're making your own hotel, you're negotiating your own rates? Is that a bit overwhelming at times?

RayRay- It can be. My husband helps along with that. He's more strict and stern when it comes to things like that. But it's mostly just a process of I'm very picky about who I actually shoot with, so I do a lot of research on the producer. What kind of content do they make? How good is their content? Is it shot with a camera similar to mine? Do they double as talent and producer? Then I look for references, so normally I have them give me three or four people they worked with and then I check out their references as well.

Jim- That's an important thing because otherwise, tell me I'm wrong, but you might end up in Motel 6 with somebody with an iPhone, right?

RayRay- Yeah, I don't want that. I don't want the guy with the camera, I want the established producer. So yeah, if they can't provide all of those things, I won't shoot with them.

Jim- Okay. So, you grew up in Columbus, like in town, or was it in the country? What was the setting like?

RayRay- Well, I was born in Idaho, and I mostly grew up in the country. My parents were the type, like we lived out in the country, they'd lock us out of the house, and they'd be like, "Don't come back till dinner," so I played outside. I had lots of animals that I played with, lots of outdoor activities, and we had a pond that I would swim in. So yeah, I was just born outside in the dirt and always been an outdoorsy type of girl.

Jim- So let's see. You're growing up, at what point did you start dating, and were you the girl that had a boyfriend all the time? Or did you not have … Were you more of a tomboy? Because you say you grew up in the dirt. I have trouble believing that you were walking around with a dirty face. What were your teen years like?

RayRay- I moved from Idaho to Colorado when I was about 12. I grew up the rest of the time in Colorado. I started dating when I was about 15, and I dated the same guy all through high school. But yeah, I mean, I probably would've been the girl who dated lots of guys, but I just found one guy and stuck with him all through high school.

Jim- The way that you look at love or romance or relationships, if that was your early experience, I guess, how does that translate into what you're kind of into now, which is maybe a little bit less than just one on one?

RayRay- I'd say that I really went away from monogamy when I was probably around 19. I started college, and I'd always been in a really small town, so I hadn't been around a lot of guys. And so I went to a very large school that had 30,000 students and my worldview got broadened, … and I have always really liked sex.

' When RayRay says that she “really liked sex” I’m pretty sure she means it. There’s an old saying, something to the effect of, “If I wouldn’t do it for free, I won’t do it for money.” Anyway, that’s RayRay. It takes a regular aficionado of being absolutely dicked down to appreciate the finer points of a gang-bang. I mean, that’s a lotta dicks, all at once. Still, RayRay mentions that she would do them daily if they weren’t so difficult to coordinate. But when she does do them, the action kicks it up another notch cuz she thoroughly enjoys multiple entries. There are no scowls, or frown faces with RayRay. The girl loves what she does and it shines through in her work and demeanor, living up to her moniker of #RockPornAllStar .

RayRay- I came into my own sexually when I was about 19, and I just had sex with whoever, whenever, or wherever. And then it’s kind of just progressed from there for me, exploring other fantasy things I wanted to do until I met my husband and he introduced me to gang bangs, and I've been doing them ever since.

Jim- On one hand, that's very interesting that your husband would introduce you to that. And on the other hand, it's really good, and it's a solid part, I think, of what a lot of people need, and what many people are lacking, in that they don't have a supportive partner. But that's an interesting mix that you have. You have both. And he introduced you to that and then he's, in the present day, even assisting you in the business that you're in now.

RayRay- Yeah.

Jim- I just see that as unique. And maybe I'm wrong, but a lot of times people are introduced by a significant other who then sometimes develops a problem with that. It's really cool that you haven't ran into that and that hopefully you won't.

RayRay- Yeah, hopefully not. Really the main thing about opening up your relationship– it's all about communication, being able to communicate with your partner like, "I like this. This is what I need." And then hopefully they'll be able to communicate back what they need, and you meet in the middle.

RayRay- But that's not always the case. Open relationships, like the woman will like intense BDSM and their partner can't physically abuse them, or beat them up in the same way, so they'll find another person who can do that for them, but they get fulfilled. It just really depends on the couple and how they want to do it. But the main thing is communication. If you can really communicate, you’ll be able to communicate any type of need in your relationship.

Jim- So you're in Ohio still at this point and you're introduced into this new, exciting, I guess, exotic lifestyle. But at what point do you start, I guess, sharing that, whether it's on private messengers or videos? When does kind of all that start to happen?

RayRay-Let's go back a little bit. I did my first gang bang when I was about 23, and I was actually in Colorado. I've done most of my gang bangs in Colorado. That's where they all started. And so, at all my gang bangs before going public, I would take photos and videos of all of it because if I'm going to have sex with 12 to 30 guys, I want a record of it, I like to look back on those memories. So, we had all this content, let's say we had like 400 to 500 gigs of just private gang bang footage.

RayRay- We were living in New Zealand at the time, because we lived abroad for a year, and we just started putting the footage out on a few swinger sites and people loved it. They were super receptive. They thought it was awesome. I had lots of women contacting me, saying it was awesome that I was doing this, that I was a role model for them. After that, I started thinking that I should start doing this publicly so more people can see it and I can have a broader audience, and that's where I am now.

Jim- Okay, so you're putting it out, you're getting all this positive feedback. And that would be a boost and kind of, I guess it would really reinforce that you're kind of where you want to be, you're doing what you need to be doing. At what point do you start making money off that?

RayRay-Well, it was pretty immediate. It's a lot easier to self-produce your own content with all the sites they have now, like OnlyFans, ManyVids, all the other clip sites. So, you can make a video today and put it up the same day, and start making money on it. So yeah, it was almost immediate after I started putting this content out. I actually had my old website at the time that had been built for me, RayRay.live, and so I was making money on that as well.

RayRay- It's been a progression that now, I'm wanting to make better content with better camera equipment and better editing and all that. So, that's where this is going to. Back then, it was more just me getting the content out there for people to see who I was and build my fan base. And now that I've built it up a little bit, I'm wanting to go to the next level, and produce high-end amateur content.

Jim- Okay. And with that, certainly to step up your game, like you mentioned, and it's a well-produced scene, but if you've started out with, let's just say, gang bangs or, for lack of a better way to put it, just boy/girl or girl/boy/boy/boy/boy/boy… I noticed that some of the other things that you're into have to do with girls. So, I'm curious to know if your main deal is boy/girl or gang bangs, that type of thing, or are you equally attracted to girls as well?

RayRay- I'm mostly known for the gang bang stuff just because that's my main thing that I enjoy doing. I love gang bangs so much that I would do them every day if I could. They're just hard to set up, especially for content where you have to sign releases and people show their faces. But no, I'm more attracted to men and prefer dick over pussies, but I wouldn't say no to an attractive woman, and I enjoy shooting with women too. It's just a different dynamic. It's more sensual, more intimate normally unless you're doing a rough scene. I enjoy my scenes with women as well, but prefer a man the majority of the time. My main kinks are multiple guys. I like being the center of attention, I like being completely full of dick in every hole. And then normally that follows my second kink, which is cum. I love cum everywhere. So, the more guys there are, the more cum, in theory, so those two go hand in hand, which is why gang bangs really work for me.

Jim- Yeah, it would in theory and actually in practice too, correct? {both laughing} You told me earlier that you felt like that you were, as an individual, shy. That kind of struck me because if you're shy, then the 100-guy goal for gang bangs is kind of a… Do you feel like gang bangs are your own way of breaking out a little bit, if you will?

RayRay-It is kind of… it's an interesting feeling. I like being the center of attention. I like being in the room where all the guys are there looking at me, they're all turned on by me, I get to play with all of them. That's super exciting for me. But on the other hand, it can be kind of nerve-wracking. So, before every gang bang, even though I've done, let's say, 50 of them by now, I still get nervous, I still get anxious, I still am like, am I going to be able to do this? So… all that still goes through my head.

RayRay- But as soon as I start doing it, I know what to do. I know how to pleasure guys. I know what positions to get into. I know how to have sex. As soon as it starts, all the nerves go away, and a lot of the shyness goes away as well. But it's not until we start actually doing it. It's the same way with photo shoots. I can shoot a glamour photo shoot with a photographer, and I can actually be very awkward and shy and kind of stiff because that's naturally who I am. But then if another performer who's a male gets introduced and we do an X-rated photo shoot next, I loosen up. The photo shoot becomes more organic and better because I'm interacting with the other performer, and I know exactly what to do with the dicks. So, I get more confident when more people are introduced.

Jim- You mentioned the photo shoots, and also back to the topic of gang bangs in general, especially the amateur, or the kind of just put together on the fly, where you might see some guys in ski masks. That always kind of put me off a little bit because your kind of like ugh, “There's a guy in a ski mask.” So, is that a big deal for you, that when we're doing the better-produced content you can see some level of intimacy? And the eyes are a huge part of that and the face too. Did that ever throw you off when somebody shows up with a ski mask? Did you maybe have trouble loosening up for that particular person?

RayRay- Not so much, but I really don't like shooting with people who don't show their face. I'm under the impression the woman has to show her face most of the time. So, if I'm going to fully put myself out there, I also want to work with male talent that also feels the same way. Not a deal breaker for me, but I normally would choose a male talent that shows his face over one who doesn't. And yeah, some of the masks also can be very distracting. So yeah, it can be harder.

Jim- Yeah, some of them are a little bit more than just a regular ski mask. It's like this guy is walking around with a skull on his face, and how am I supposed to perform with that?

RayRay- Yeah, yeah. I definitely prefer guys who show their face over guys who don't. That's actually one of my requirements for taking male talent is will they show their face or not? And then if they're not going to show their face, I normally have them wear a non-distracting mask, something that's plain. That way, it's not taking away from the filming.

Jim-I guess, I don't know, when you get to some level, I wonder what guy is going to do that. It’s like, he's going to put a ski mask on and then somehow, I don't know if he's married or whatever, he's going to go back home and nobody's going to know the difference. But it's always a weird thing when you see those two or three guys with the ski mask. And that's not to denigrate. I don't want anybody to get put off by me making fun of a ski mask, but it definitely takes away from the scene.

RayRay- It really does take away from the scene. I've even shot with guys before when I was first starting out that would change their voice so no one would know who they are. And I'm like, "Maybe you shouldn't be making content if you don't want anyone to know." It's a very lucrative way to make money, but you should be fully putting yourself out there if you're going to want to make this content.

Jim- Yeah, and at the end of the day, they're there with you. And you're not completely decked out in heels and makeup to the point where you look like a Las Vegas showgirl. I think in a lot of ways you're just a very normal looking… you're a pretty girl, but you're normal looking and that you could literally come across as the girl next door who just happens to like to fuck– a lot. So, do you see that as a selling point for you?

RayRay- I do, yeah. It's a great way for me to be relatable. I was just talking to someone about this, but porn's really going away from the high end as much. The high-end porn will always be there, but now with all the clip sites and everything, more amateur porn is coming into its own. And a lot of people are purchasing porn that's relatable, that's genuine, that's real, that they can see themselves in. And that's the type of porn that I'm wanting to make. I want to make high-end amateur porn, but I'm an average, everyday woman who's doing this and hopefully that hits home with other women, and they can start seeing that it's possible to do these things and they will start doing them too.

Jim- High-end amateur, and I think that's a good way to put it because, again, you're definitely at a level that's above somebody in the basement with a run-of-the-mill looking camcorder or, like I said, an iPhone, that you're putting a lot of value and production into this. But your look, whether you're the normal girl next door or not, you definitely have a presence that shows that you've been there before. And I think that that shines through as well. So, you might still think of it as high-end amateur, but I think of it as a new way of presenting this content that's already very popular.

RayRay- It is. Yeah, I mean, I've talked to guys who watch porn and I've asked them before, "What do you watch?" And normally a lot of them are like, "Amateur," or that type of porn, just because if they can't imagine themselves in the scene, some of the guys will just turn it off and find a different video. So, I'd say, like I said, amateur porn's really coming into its own right now because people are finding it more relatable and genuine. And I think that's awesome for us small content creators out there.

Jim- I just had a thought that when we're talking about relatable and people can really kind of get into it and it works into, let's say, their personal fantasy, when somebody thinks that you're from Ohio and maybe they live in Pittsburgh or northern Kentucky or someplace that there's, "Well, Ohio's only an hour away from me." Because I would certainly see that as something that people might search out and say, "Whoa, well, this girl might be accessible." And I guess the follow-up to that is, do you ever get any weird DMs of people's, "Oh, we live right next door. Maybe we can meet up."

RayRay-Yeah, I get those every now and then. Most of the time what I get is like, "Are you going to come to this city?" And I'm like, "No, no, I'm not going to come to your city." But yeah, I get a fair number of DMs when it comes to that. I have my own personal sex life outside of porn and I use a few sites for that like Tinder and a few other ones. And I've had guys find that out before and they're like, "Oh, I'll be able to have sex with her." And I've had a few guys get very aggressive towards me, like they found me on the sites before and they're like, "Well, you'll fuck me." And I'm like, "I'm not just going to fuck anyone."

RayRay- A lot of people think just because you're slutty or you put yourself out there sexually, that you'll just have sex with anyone. And so, I'd say a lot of women who are out there sexually probably deal with this often, that men will just come into your DMs thinking that they can pay to fly you somewhere and have sex with you or pay to video chat with you or all these things. And that's normally not the case. I hope eventually men will stop doing that, but I don't know if that will ever be the case.

Jim- But I suppose if, for now, it gets them onto your whichever site, and you have several, but whichever one, and they buy a clip and that's great, then I suppose that has served its purpose and you maybe get one or two or three DMs and then it's over with.

RayRay- Yeah, normally if they are acting in that way, I normally just block them. I'm very liberal with the block button. I don't really put up with too much of that stuff. I want to be treated as a normal person. I want to be treated that way just like everyone else does. The better approach for any of that is to treat me like a real person instead of just a sexual object that you see on the screen. That's what I am on the screen, but that's not who I am on a daily basis.

Jim- Yeah, and I think that's something that's lost on a lot of people, especially if they're not maybe familiar with the kind of inner workings of industry and performers, is that, like you said, that might be your kind of thing that gets you off and maybe that's what is making you money. But it doesn't mean that at your core, that you're just going to go out and fall on the pavement and spread your legs. It's not how it works, but I know that's probably the fantasy of too many out there.

RayRay- I mean, that's kind of like the fantasy that you're trying to portray and that's how you make your money. But someone once said it, it was like, "I'm a slut, but I'm not your slut.” So, you should just let me be as slutty as I want. That doesn't mean I'm going to be slutty for you. But each woman has her own standards and how far she'll go in that realm. Some performers love having their fans interact with them and they do fan meet-ups and things like that and that's great. Some performers won't even respond back to fans. It just really depends on the performer that you're dealing with when it comes to that. But overall, I'd say you should probably not go into a performer's DMs with that mentality.

' So, here’s the deal. These performers who are putting themselves out there, are… effectively putting themselves REALLY out there!” I’m not convinced that many allow fans to get a little too close, and then, before you know it, there’s a dangerous situation going on. I like that the internet has made it possible for performers to interact with their fans, but it can get tricky. I appreciate that RayRay has set some boundaries, that she’s being accessible yet remaining safe. Her approach to dealing with overzealous fans is a good one and the lesson of it is even better– be yourself, but that self belongs only to you– nobody else owns you.

Jim- All right, so you're performing, you're on video and you look good, you're fit, you're trim. What is that? Are you in the gym lifting? Do you run? What do you do to kind of, I guess, at the end of the day, maybe decompress a little bit, and in addition that keeps you looking fit and trim?

RayRay- Well, the main thing is diet. Diet is everything. I eat a few bad things every now and then, but I try to eat lower in carbs and I try to cut out processed things. I don't drink soda. I wouldn't eat candy or baked goods. And I mostly just eat lean protein and vegetables and fruit. So that's what I focus on in a good diet. And then I'm in the gym six days a week. I lift six days a week, and I've always been a big runner. I've done seven half marathons, a full marathon. So, I've always just had that physique, and I have good genetics, so I got to thank my parents for that as well.

Jim- Let’s see … your tattoo. You got a, what is it, a sleeve on your left arm. But it's not a full sleeve. And you know, we're just talking like after-hours stuff here. What's up with that? And how much more ink do you plan to get?

RayRay-Haha! I was raised anti-tattoo. My parents were always, "Don't ever get a tattoo." They wouldn't even let me draw on my skin with markers. So, I never actually thought I'd get a tattoo– and then I got a half sleeve. There's not too much symbolism behind the tattoo. I'm a very artsy person, I decorate my place for every season. I have a craft room which is full of crap like scrapbooks, and I paint on canvases. My tattoo's really just pretty, it's bright, it mimics my personality, and then it's on my skin, kind of like I have paint on my canvas now, just like I paint on canvases. But when I first got it done, I actually didn't like it. I had to come around to the idea that having a tattoo was okay because of how I was raised. It was like, “No tattoos, no tattoos.” Haha. But then when it was totally done, and it was very well done, I had to come around to, “Well, yes, it's okay I have this on my skin.” Now I love it. I can't see my body without it.

RayRay- That being said, I'm not sure if I'll get another one. I have a few ideas in my head about another one I'm going to get. Plus, they're painful! Haha. There’s also a lot of trust involved with your artist too, knowing if they're going to do a good job because it's permanent. I'm not so good at the whole like, “I'll trust you to let you do your thing”, because I like to be in control most of the time. So that'd be another reason why I wouldn't get another one.

Jim- You don't owe me anything, but please don't tattoo your face.

RayRay- Oh no, no. Never. No.

Jim- What was it? Tommy Lee got a tattoo on his face, and I said, "Well, I guess that's okay. He's Tommy Lee." Or Mike Tyson, he’s allowed. But anybody else, you've got to really think that one through. For most of us, there's this set of rules and maybe you shouldn't do that. I don't think you would anyway. I like the ink you have. You're right, it's pretty. It's bright. It's cool looking. So yeah, that's great. But you mentioned your family being anti-tattoos. So, I’ve got to ask you– your family, friends, the ones that are not involved in the industry, what do they think about RayRay today?

RayRay- Oh, my family has no idea what I do. I was raised with the whole, “You don't have sex till you're married.” Basically, sex is only within the confines of marriage. You have sex then, and you only have sex with that one person. It's a conversation that I have in my head, “How’s it going to go when my family finds out?” But the way I think about it is like this: if my family finds out what I do, then it just means that I’ve made it big enough that people know who I am, and I don't know if it really matters so much at that point. It's really me expressing to the world, this is who I am, this is my core, this is what I love to do. And if they don’t accept me after that, then, ... It would be a conversation we'd have, and something to work through and hopefully they'll come around. But if not, I have a husband who will support me in everything I do, so I at least have one person in my corner.

Jim- No, and that's terrific. That's an answer I've never gotten before. And it's actually not a bad answer that if they find out, because then like you say, it means you’ve made it. And don't get me wrong, it matters, but I guess it kind of doesn't. So yeah, that's not a bad way to look at it. And like I say, I've never had that answer before, but it's a cool one. I like it.

RayRay- Or, you know, unless someone tells them. I have had a few bad things where people get upset. A little while ago, somebody on some dark web website posted graphic porn photos of me, and then found my Facebook. Yeah, they had my real identity, posted that up there with my husband's and my sister's profiles. It was all out there for all these people to see, me doing this graphic porn stuff with my real identity. So, I mean, that stuff happens. People become aggressive and they do terrible things to people who put themselves out there. I'm sure other porn stars who are bigger have dealt with way worse. But yeah, the only other way is if somebody found out who I was, my real identity, and told them, which would also be awful.

Jim- Well, that's terrible. Those are just mean-spirited people that probably at the end of the day, don't like themselves much better if they're going to put somebody else through that. So hopefully that doesn't happen. And it's too bad that it happened already a little bit. But that goes back to your name, RayRay. And so, what was it, a nickname?

RayRay- It was, … a nickname. That's all I'll say about that.

Jim- Okay. That's enough. That was probably a misplaced question after we just went through everything you went through. But it does lead into something that I'm really kind of taken with, and that's your logo. Seriously, not many industry stars have a logo, but you do. And I think it's incredibly cool looking. How did you come up with that?

RayRay- I found a graphic design team that's based in South Africa. And I got on a video chat with him, and I was like, "This is me. This is my old logo that I had built. And this is kind of my brand. And this is who I am as a person." And he came up with that logo, and it was just perfect. I like the double Rs, and there's the hearts and kind of the pizzazz, which is kind of my thing, like the rock star, porn star, all-star kind of all plays into the logo. Yeah. So that's where that comes from.

Jim- Yeah. It's way cool. And I was going to ask you - and I suppose when your new site comes up, will some of that gear be available? Because I would probably buy one of the shirts.

RayRay- I definitely will. Right now, I'm working on selling off a lot of my old logo stuff. Eventually, I'll have things from RayRay.Live, and my old things up on my ManyVids. A lot of it was actually worn in shoots. So, there'll be like, “I got gang banged by 7 guys in this shirt, want to buy it?” Haha, ... But yeah, eventually that's where we're going. We'll be producing shirts and T-shirts and shorts and all kinds of hats and stuff with the logo. It’s funny, this is my first Exxxotica, and I kind of got to see what other people were doing, and how they were marketing and branding themselves. When I show up in Miami, I'm going to have a lot more merchandise to give out.

Jim- I won't be at Miami, but I'll be at New Jersey. There's an awful lot of people running around here at Exxxotica. I understand that Tad from TadPole Studios is sponsoring your booth here? That's super cool of him to do, he must really believe in you and what you're capable of. That kind of opens up a question of, I know that you've worked with whoever in the past, but looking around, are there any studios or partners that you're meeting and you're saying, "Oh, God, I want to work with them, absolutely."

RayRay- I would love to shoot with a lot of the stars that I’ve met here at Exxxotica, and yes, I love Tad so much. We're planning to have the same set up down in Miami. Alex Coal is right next to me, and there’s so many others, I'd love to shoot with any of them. But right now, my main push is trying to get in with a bigger production company, which is really hard when you don't have an agent. But I would love to shoot with Tushy or Blacked, or any of those other high-end production companies. I’d just like to get my foot in the door, and move towards bigger and better things.

Jim- Yeah, and I think that a lot of the tough work is done, in that you've already created this awesome brand, this unique girl next door who is just wonderfully wild. Another person I met like that was Emma Rose. She is @OhItsEmmaRose on Twitter. But she's a trans girl, started out independent, doing her own thing, and she had built her brand and fan base to the point where, I told her, it was like she had ridden a tidal wave into these studios. Not a whole lot of people can do that, but I could see you doing that. And so, you're coming into this already as a bit of a recognizable figure in the industry. So yeah, you go out and get some really cool scene partners, and I don't see that as a stretch that somebody's going to look at you and say, "Wow, look at this. She's already kind of what we need."

RayRay- Yeah, it's still hard though. I've talked to a good number of agencies, trying to get picked up and represented. I get a lot of backlash for one, my name, the way it is. A lot of people want a normal name, not just like a double name. They also don't like the fact that I'm starting where I'm starting. I've already done the double penetration, I've done the anal, I've done the interracial, I've done the gang bang stuff. That's how I've built my brand, and that's what people know me as. But I've had agencies be like, "You need to start over. We need to rebrand you. We need to change your name. You need to start with a boy/girl and then a girl/girl, and then gradually work my way up.” And I'm not wanting to go back. I'm wanting to progress and make the content better, high-end stuff, but continue on the progression that I am going on. I've had other ones say that I can't have different colored hair or potentially couldn't get more tattoos. And so, there's a lot of roadblocks put up for me personally trying to get represented and get to the next level, which really stinks.

Jim- My argument with that would be that, okay, so you get a girl that's really popular and then she does a DP, or she does a gang bang, and maybe you can see throughout the shoot in her eyes that she's really not comfortable being here, maybe this is not her thing. And so, I think that what you're doing… because this is truly your kink, it’s something that's very, very difficult to fake. It’s tough to put up a show like that. Meanwhile, you're like, "Well, hey, this is genuinely me. And I don't have to act because this is really where I'm at." I would see that as better than somehow tossing somebody into it and seeing if it sticks.

RayRay- Yeah, I mean, I really just need my foot in the door. I think if I got with a production company, and actually shoot with one of them, they'd see what I'm capable of. But the hard part is that you can't really get those shoots without an agent. It's harder to get in with the higher producing, or even mid-tier without the agents finding those for you, connecting you. And so, I've had a hard time getting to that next level. I've just really been focusing on my own brand, making it better, producing better content on my end, building my fan base, and then making my logo the way it is. I’m also building a brand-new website from the ground up. So, I'm focusing on what I can control at this point.

Jim- Yeah, and I think that in doing that, you're going to put yourself in a spot that’s going to be very hard to miss. You mentioned the website coming up, it's www.RayRayXXX.com. Right now, it's just a splash page where people can go on there, and I've done so, and sign up. Simple. I entered my email and I'm going to get notifications when it's live. So, when all of this transpires… and when is that? Sometime in August that it's going to go live?

RayRay- I'm hope so. It’s being built from scratch, and there's going to be 7 or 8 different tabs there. Eventually all my content, all the videos I have right now, are going to be on that site. I’ll have a spot for the interviews I’ve done, and there'll be a gallery. There’s going to be a lot and it’ll all be centered around RayRay. It’s gonna be cool. I’ll have my event schedule, where I'm going. So yeah. It's just a lot being built, all of it brand new. I don't have an exact time frame yet. I'm hoping to have that within the next couple weeks.

' The era of the performer owned website and content is going to be the next step for many in the industry, but it's not an easy thing to do. As RayRay mentions, and anyone who has priced websites knows, it is an expensive thing, but if done correctly, a worthwhile investment. I believe the clip sites and streaming will be around for a while longer, possibly a lot longer, but performers who have built their own platform are looking for longevity, security, and profitability … The entrepreneurial spirit is alive and kickin in the industry and reminds me of my talk with Dr. Heather Berg when I talked with her about her book, Porn Work, the drive that our performers have! Long story short. RayRay is forging her own pathway, in more ways than one.

RayRay- But the coolest thing about my new site is there's going to be a live streaming capability. The live streaming will allow the people who are subscribed to see the porn being filmed in real time. So, when I'm, let's say, filming a threesome scene, I'll be like, "Oh, I'm going to film this threesome scene. It's happening at such and such time.” Then you can go in there, and actually see the live stream of us filming it. Then the video will be edited and put on the site. But you'll be able to see it happening in real time, which is not really happening anywhere that I know of. So that's going to be really awesome.

RayRay- I'm looking forward to that being my site. I love that there's OnlyFans and ManyVids and all these clip sites now, and that's great. But I really wanted something that was mine, something that I established, something that I poured my heart and soul into, someplace where there are no restrictions. This is my site, and I am able to put anything I want on there. Not that I would do anything super edgy or super fetish wise, but I like that there is the ability to do so.

Jim- I was going to ask you about that, the integration of all the platforms you’re on now. ManyVids and your Twitter, Insta, PornHub. I was going to mention that your PornHub is no joke. You've got quite a few views and subscribers on there. But the aim with the website, and you just answered it, is to consolidate all of that and even make it better. I think that's cool.

RayRay-Yeah. It's mostly just to be like, this is mine, this is my own personal site. There's not anyone looking over it. There's no one taking a cut from it. This is mine. And there's not a lot of performers out there that I know are building their sites from the ground up because for one, it's expensive; and secondly, it's a very hard thing to do. But I'm really excited that I'm going to have that for my fans. Instead of just going from one site to another site to get all my stuff, they'll just be able to subscribe to my site and get it all right there.

RayRay- We’re gonna have a tiered plan that you can pick how much you want to get. So, there'll be a trial period where you can try it for a few days and then if you don't like it? Fine, you don’t pay. After that we have 3 different payment tiers. They're going to be called Rock Star, Porn Star, and All Star. That will all be explained, and it'll tell you what you get with each tier. But you, as the consumer, will be able to pick how much you really want, which is really cool.

Jim- And I can also get a shirt, the one with your logo, right? Tell me I can.

RayRay-Yeah.

Jim- I'll probably buy one for my mom too…

RayRay- {laughing}Yeah, that's what we're working towards.

Jim- I think it's awesome. This notion that the performers are taking back control. I shouldn't say taking it back. I'll say that differently, that the performers are taking control of their own content from these several platforms. It’s way cool, and I think it's overdue. So, I'm happy you're doing that.

Jim- So with the website, everything that you've done, the places you're going, I want to know what's the one thing, or it might be two things, that keep you grounded as a human being. Something that, at the end of the day, when you leave Exxxotica and all these wonderful people running around, and they all seem to know you and they want an autograph or a photo, what's the thing that lets you remind yourself that you're a person and to take care of you?

RayRay- Well, I'd say my husband really helps a lot with that. He's always like, "We need to get back home. We have to take care of our pets." We're average, everyday people. We have grocery shopping to do, we make dinner every night. But really, I'm not all that well known yet. So, at Exxxotica, it’s very humbling to be around all these really well-known porn stars and see all the fans going up to them and excited to meet them.

RayRay- I’ve had a lot of people just come up to me and they're like, "Who are you?" Haha. You know, I had to tell them who I was. I’ve had that with multiple people. So that was very humbling for me, being like, ‘Yeah, I am not all that well known yet.” At some point, I’ll get to the level where most people know who I am. But in this line of work, there's a lot of competition, so who knows? Meanwhile, I have no problem telling people who I am. So… I'd say that is probably how I stay grounded at this point. A lot of people don't know who I am yet and that's very humbling for me.

Jim- Well, you're growing into your own, when it comes, and it'll be there soon enough, you're going to be ready for it in more ways than one. I'm confident of that. Let me ask you one more question, something I've started asking everybody– is there a question that I didn’t ask you, one that you wish I would have asked?

RayRay-Not that I can think of… no.

Jim-Okay. No? That's cool. Well, we've had a good talk. Thanks for having this conversation with me, for letting your fans really get a really good idea of who you are, of who RayRay is as a person, what makes you tick, and what your future goals and plans are going to be.
