The XCritic Interview: Emily Willis

What does it take to become an "Undisputed" Performer of the Year in the world of adult cinema? In my opinion, it is much more than performance and acting that determines a winner. No matter if it is XBIZ, AVN, or XCritic, winning that trophy and title comes with so much added pressure, fame, and attitude and that is on top of what it takes to just reach the proverbial mountain summit in this industry. How do you stay on top of that mountain? What must you change about yourself to be on top of a world that is all about confidence, beauty, fitness, dedication, and strength, believe it or not? For the past two years, I was this starlet’s biggest cheerleader when discussing among my writing brethren, who is the best of the best in this business. What makes Emily Willis stand out above anyone else, it is something more than her youthful beauty and sexy charisma. It is a true-to-life passion for sexuality and porn that has taken her to adventures that include having sex in a sports car while driving down the busy streets of downtown Los Angeles. Yes, you got that right, a moving fucking car! This is a starlet whose smile is genuine, whose heart is in the right place, it has to be because this woman is one of the busiest models on planet earth and that takes us to her extra “oomph” as I call it, to stay sane, happy and healthy when almost three hundred days a year are dedicated to making adult films and accomplishing goals and dreams. Don Juan DeMarko: Emily, first things first, thank you for taking time for us at XCritic to sit down and talk about your win and your career. What did it feel like to be a performer who came into this business, took it by storm, and did something that Riley Reid did not do, sweep the boards at both AVN & XBIZ? That has to be the best fucking feeling ever. I ask this because I know she was a performer you looked up to when you began in this business. 

Emily Willis: Thank you so much for having me! It was the best feeling of my entire life. It is something that I had set as a goal for myself when getting into this industry, and achieving that was literally a dream come true. So, to be recognized the way I am now, it is so empowering and I'm honored truly to be here.  I still look up to Riley. She is an incredible human being and performer. I'm so proud of myself for accomplishing what I did. I will say that this is just the beginning!  

Don Juan DeMarko: I have heard that you are a huge lover of erotic art? I am dying to know what sparked this fascination with art? Do you have a passion for other forms of art? I ask this because I went to school to work in museums and love art. Especially the renaissance. 

Emily Willis: Yes, I am a lover of art, of all forms. I grew up dancing, I indulge myself by letting my body go to music and expressing myself fully, I think that's what really sparked me. I love music, I love going to museums, and drawing and painting, interior decor, anything that expresses my individuality.

Don Juan DeMarko: You are now what people would describe as a sexual icon and you will be one for the rest of your life with what you accomplished in 2020. I would like to take some time to talk about Emily Willis, the woman behind the performer. What I have wanted to ask you for many years, what does the word sexuality mean to Emily Willis, the woman?

Emily Willis: Sexuality to me means freedom. Freedom to do whatever I want with my body, exposing and sharing myself with everyone. Sexuality to me means driving my body and its pleasures to all places; exploring my wants, needs, and desires, and not being afraid of asking for what I want. Sexuality to me means releasing myself fully. 

Don Juan DeMarko: We met a few years ago at the Adam Eve Halloween party. What a charmer you are madam. Now, if I remember correctly, you got into this business when you were nineteen, correct? So this means that you turned twenty-one while you were getting to the top of the mountain in the XXX world. I would love to know, what does a Female Performer of the Year do on her twenty-first birthday? How fucking crazy did you, or did you not party? I think that is a question fans and critics of the business would love to know. 

Emily Willis: Yes, we did meet, it was a pleasure. For my 21st birthday, I actually went out with two of my favorite guys (both older.) We went to a club, partied, but I asked them specifically to fuck me that night, together. I wanted to get tag teamed after going out and partying that night and it was amazing! That was the night of the 28th so I wanted to go into my birthday celebrating. On my actual birthday, I went to a very nice dinner with a couple of friends

Don Juan DeMarko: I see more and more women across the industry coming into the business with a passion for fetish of many types. You being a young, empowered woman and performer, I would love to know why you think this is. Are we becoming a more accepting society? Is this maybe due to the fact women are beginning to be heard and seen in ways that no other generation has seen before? 

Emily Willis: I do believe that we are becoming a more accepting society. I think that with social media it is easier for women to find other like-minded women enabling them to amplify their passions. I think we are a generation of accepting each other and losing judgment. 

Don Juan DeMarko: So many of us are just like our alter egos. Some are not, for instance, Don Juan DeMarko, he is the side of me that is an asshole, plain and simple. He is my hard-working side, my take no shit off of anyone persona. I tell you this because I have heard you are a shy person and if so, that fucking rocks. I am dying to know how similar Emily Willis is to the woman behind the porn star now that you are a seasoned veteran? 

Emily Willis: My alter ego Emily Willis is the fire that burns within me and takes my desires and thrills to another level. We share a lot in common. It's not an on and off switch, it is authentically me, just a side of me that comes out on camera.  I wouldn't describe myself as shy, I would say that I am more private and reserved in my personal life. I feel that I share so much of myself online and with my work, that I like to appreciate my personal time. 

 Don Juan DeMarko: Let’s talk about Emily Willis the performer. Tell me what is different about Emily Willis now, opposed to that performer in 2017 who first stepped onto a Vixen Media film set? 

Emily Willis: Wow ha-ha, so much has changed. To start off, I really did not know all that much about porn. I really didn't watch all that much of it but I was curious and eager. I think my evolution as a performer has definitely shown on camera. I’m confident, more experienced, I know what I want and I have no shame or fear in asking for it. I've explored and still am. My desire to take my sexuality to another level always grows. What's different about me now, I think it is all of the above, but mainly that now, when I walk onto a scene, I know it's mine to take. I own it!

Don Juan DeMarko: Staying in the world of Girl/Girl for a second. You getting that award for Best Girl/Girl performance alongside Elsa Jean in Influence, it was well deserved. You made that scene pop, you brought out the fireworks. Tell us the inside story on the shoot? How long was your day? Was this something that you knew was going to take home the award? This just looks like one of those scenes where Emily Willis became the Female Performer of the Year, I shit you not. 

 Emily Willis: Thank you I had no idea that it was going to win Best Girl-Girl to be honest. I had worked with Elsa once before in a threesome scene. She is so much fun to work with and such a pleasure to be around that I was super stoked to get to work with her again, especially because it was anal. It was about a ten to twelve hour day! We have really good chemistry and I felt super confident and excited that I was her first girl-girl anal, so, I took her for a ride. It was so hot taking her girl/girl anal virginity and I think that's what really drove me to be more dominant in that scene! 

Don Juan DeMarko: Tell us about your latest scene with Deeper.com and Jax Slayer. I found it very cool that Deeper chose you as the performer to end the year with that scene premiering December 31st. Emily Willis: That was actually my very first time ever working with Jax, and I had heard great things about him and that he fucks hard. Emily Willis:Oh my god, there are so many and I think I may have just filmed my best, but the first that comes to mind is Oil for Days for Evil Angel. Don Juan DeMarko: You have achieved XXX immortality. You are a true Performer of the Year. I think you deserved to win last year as well, let me just say. I would love to know what is the next goal for you? Woman, I heard you are a badass interior decorator. Are we going to one day see Emily Willis as the lead director for say, VIXEN? Now that would be something very special to see happen. I think you would be great behind the lens. 

Emily Willis: Aww, truly, thank you so much. My next goal is to start my own website, which will be up very very soon, it is currently in the works. I want to take all my knowledge and creativeness and get nasty and artsy with my scenes and produce them for myself. Another goal of mine is to start directing as well!  I would love to do that in the near future, I definitely want to do more as a performer. There is still so much more I want to do, but these two goals I have set myself out to start working on and getting started on right away!

Emily Willis: My next big project is definitely my website, so stay tuned for that! I just filmed a feature for Dorcel, and am going to be working on a few others this year.
