Coralyn Jewel Interview

XCRITIC

Coralyn Jewel has had an interesting life. She wants to share it with people in her upcoming book "When the Ice Melts The Story of Coralyn Jewel". Her goal is to change the wrongly societal perception of the adult industry. She wants her readers to know that there is "nothing wrong" with being involved in various aspects of the adult industry.   I look forward to reading Coralyn's book and to learn from it.

Hi Coralyn, you have written a book about your life. Why did you decide to write a book?

I was at the AVN Awards 4 years ago and was approached by a journalist who wanted to interview me. After hearing my whole story of how I ended up working in the adult industry, he said my story needed to be told so others can learn from me and we can hopefully put a stop to the misconceptions of adult performers.  There are many twists and turns in my book, but I do not want to ruin it for my readers.  From emigrant, to private school, Olympic hopeful, marriage, divorce, brothel, director, performer, and the swinger lifestyle, the book is sure to keep the readers intrigued and is titled When the Ice Melts The Story of Coralyn Jewel.

How did you find a publisher for your book?

The journalist who interviewed me over a 4 year period made a connecting with the publisher,  Kathy Kidd who's company has over 460 Best-Seller's and pitched my book to her.  She scheduled a phone interview with me and followed up by requesting a copy to read. After reading it, she was so convinced it will be a best-seller, my project was taken Pro-Bono.  She moved fast with me in this process and I am beyond excited and grateful to her.

How did you enter the adult industry?

This is a lot of what my book is about. I did not have any intention of working in the adult industry.  Instead, my childhood goals consisted of my eye on the Olympics as a competitive figure skater, degree in theatrical production, and it was 1 conversation with my then-husband and 2 kids later that my world and my goals took a big detour.

Do you see sex as empowering for women?

I do and I share this in my book  There is so much judgment on the adult industry and I want readers to know that this is a LEGAL industry and a huge industry. Sex is healthy.  Being open about your fantasies and sexuality with your partner is positive and could stop all the cheating and lying.  Family members need to accept those in their circle who choose to work in the industry.  They are doing nothing illegal.  They are taking care of themselves, earning a living, and doing nothing wrong.  Those are the keywords " Nothing Wrong".

How did you get involved in swinging? What is the appeal of it?

I truly feel everyone has a story and we can all learn from each other.  We never know where we will be in one year, five years and so on.  Swinging came up as a conversation with my then-husband 10 years ago from an experience we had (in my book) and never did I think it would lead me down a crazy road of financial destruction and turmoil. However, I am strong and  I remained dedicated and now I own a Swinger community with over 18,000 members.  I started it from scratch in 2012 and with many obstacles along the way, my community is my 2nd family and I love hosting events and providing my members a safe place to express their sexual freedom.

Is it difficult to make and keep friends in this industry?

It is not difficult in my experience to make friends or keep them in the industry in fact quite the opposite. I have shot on a set one time with another talent and five years can go by and when we see each other it's like seeing an old friend. We tend to support each other and there is no judgment.  It is much harder to keep friends, family, and relationships for me outside of the industry as there is normally a prejudgment.

What do want your readers to get from reading your book?

This is by far the most important question.  My book pertains to, couples married or in a relationship, single ladies or men intrigued by the swinger lifestyle, anyone who wants to add fantasy, spice up their sex life, and be able to communicate what they seek with their partner and talent in the industry, or those wanting to get into working as an adult performer.

It is for family members who maybe have a daughter, sister, brother, aunt, and so on involved in the industry to understand why that family member chose that path. The importance to accept them and their positive energy on sexual freedom.  It is so important that my readers understand Sex is a healthy positive thing and working in the industry is a perfectly legal job.  The judgment needs to stop.

How do you feel about your release party for your book?

I am so excited!!  My publishers have made me feel a sense of confidence I have not had in a long time.  I was petrified to write my book, to share my story with my journalist and now my readers. I was scared of failure, judgment, my own family members being disappointed in me.  HOWEVER,  my story needs to be shared.  I am now excited to come out with my book.  My release party is scheduled for the middle of June and will be a one-hour online event with a free link for that hour to all viewers/readers.  I am anxious to see where my life will be one year from now.   Anyone wanting the exact date can follow any of my social media accounts for the exact date and time we will release.
