Book Review: Erik Everhard’s Unleash Your Sexual Superpowers: A Porn Star’s Guide To Sexual Mastery

XCRITIC

AVN Hall of Famer Erik Everhard's October 6-released book (pre-order hereUnleash Your Sexual Superpowers: A Porn Star's Guide To Sexual Mastery is an essential resource for men looking to demystify having fulfilling intercourse with their female partners. Stars like Jenna Jameson, Tera Patrick, and Traci Lords' wrote novels that delved deeper into the why and not the how of their lurid sexual lives. Comparatively, Everhard -- though he does mention having had sex with "5,000 women, give or take 500" -- doesn't exoticize his biography. Instead, he blends science, machismo, logic, and an assured tone into an entertaining and informative read.

Most "how to" sex books seem exciting upon being picked up but fall short because of the authors' need to dive too deep into the biology and physiology of the human anatomy to retain sexual intrigue. That's certainly not the case here. Ever wanted to read a story about how an actress voided herself while drunk on set? Have you ever wondered how a male star can achieve orgasm on a chilly, wind-swept dustbowl of a set after a day of double-penetration gangbangs? Both of these stories (and more) are discussed in graphic detail within Unleash Your Sexual Superpowers' 196 pages. If presuming this could end up like a Masters and Johnson study or an eighth-grade sex-ed textbook, it doesn’t. You're in luck.

On the surface, this book's language and style make it easy to pick up and accessibly understandable for anyone. However, this is where how this book stands out deceptively appears. If the math holds up, this is a man who has had sex with a different woman every 36 hours for two consecutive decades. If you have had sex with the same woman, once, every 24 hours for 20 years, this could work. But, if you're having sex once every 36 days, or every 3.6 years, this book may be overwhelming. Ideally, if you, or someone you know, is having casual sex every three (or 3.6, lol) days, with one or many different partners, this book is a godsend.

At my active sexual peak so far, I had seven different regular sexual partners with whom I routinely had varying and various types of intercourse. In contemplating that era of my life, I wish I had the information in this book at my disposal. Everhard breaking down navigating threesomes, three unique ways to excite small to massive clitorises, or giving an in-depth breakdown of how to cleanse, calm, and cultivate pleasure for a new-to-anal sexual partner would have been mind-blowing. Plus, approximately 20% of the book is spent discussing how to overcome performance anxiety and last longer. If you enjoy casual sex and believe that fucking or being fucked well is an art form worthy of mastery, Unleash Your Sexual Superpowers: A Porn Star's Guide To Sexual Mastery is ideal.

As well, though potentially a controversial notion is that the book is written from a perspective that errs more primal and less romantic. Many books about sex will veer into some conversation about the psychology of desire. However, a 20-year porn veteran writes Unleash Your Sexual Superpowers. Thus the safe assumption is that this book comes from a perspective where the urgency to have sex while having a fraction of erotic connection plus excellent sexual abilities are crucial. Less valuable is the influence of sound romantic and relationship-driven cues. In short, to paraphrase Michelle Pfeiffer speaking to Al Pacino's Tony Montana in Scarface, this book -- with immediate, blunt, and honest directness -- concerns itself far more with the "why and how," instead of the "who and when," of the art of fucking. If you're looking for a book that teaches the art of wooing a woman into bed for a night of sexual ecstasy, this isn't that book. Instead, if you're looking for a book that presumes that you already have many regular sexual partners, this is ideal.

If bored during a pandemic or otherwise, Unleash Your Sexual Superpowers is a fantastic read. If looking to either refresh your skillset or ensure that the regular sex that you're having can evolve to being a more satisfying experience, the tools are here. Condensing the essentials for maximal female pleasure into a 196-page read is an audacious task. However, when pleasure becomes a business for you that's good enough to sustain 20 years, 2400 films, and 5000 sexual partners, what seems overwrought, is instead, orgasmic.
