My Day on Set with Screwbox

Most of the time, I’m in my office. On the rare occasions that I venture to set, I find myself bored and feeling like I’m in a science lab. Going to a Screwbox set was a whole new experience, and absolutely one to be coveted. But then again, you can tell by their movies, they’re not making basic gonzo flicks.

I left my office in Hollywood, picked up the editor from AVN, and drove an hour to the location. Once we got to set, it seemed like we had the wrong address. We parked on the dirt road and made out way toward the main event, which was nothing short of amazing. The place looked like the set of Waterworld with huge white walls and blue water with giant white balls and round disks floating in it. It was 80 degrees with clear blue skies and a nice breeze.

Before filming began, Owner/Creative Director Jakodema and his crew were surveying the location and getting the lights and cameras ready. On the other side of the wall, Holly Hendrix and Lily Adams were practicing choreographed sword fighting. And in the make-up room, Executive Production Manager Stevie Shae was overseeing Jillian Janson and Xandra Sixx getting into their cheerleading costumes and the make-up artists doing the girls’ hair and makeup.

Jillian and Xandra came out in Screwbox tees, short black skirts, yellow knee socks, white tennis shoes, and yellow pom poms. Yes, that was very descriptive, but Screwbox is very much about the aesthetic. The whole crew was sporting rain boots, since they were standing in six inches of water. They had to carry the girls across the water to the two circular white disks they filmed on, so their shoes wouldn’t get wet. They started off with individual and pretty girl shots and filming promos. Then, it was time to shoot the girl/girl scene, which was very hot. The two had amazing chemistry. After the scene, the girls walked by us and sweetly asked if we enjoyed the show.

After spending over two hours on set, we decided to head out. Lily Adams and Holly Hendrix were wearing colored wigs, fully made up, and ready for their scene. Michael Vegas and Violet Starr were taking their turn at sword training with the choreographers. Two more movies were being filmed in the afternoon that involved sword fighting and secret elements I can’t reveal right now.
