Pandora’s Box

The phrase "to open Pandora's box" means to perform an action that may seem small or innocuous, but that turns out to have severe and far-reaching consequences. "

I was trying to walk off my anxiety from school and life that has seemed to devour my mind, body and spirit as of late. I started thinking about an incident that had happened to me a few months ago and how everyone has some sort of Pandora's Box hidden deep inside them. The more I thought about it, the more I found my Pandora's Box theory to be rather interesting. A radical theory, but I liked it. I like to believe everyone internally has some type of Pandora's Box which is what helps us depict our long term and short term decisions as well as help us define our own quality of life. It's what we keep our morals, standards, sets of beliefs, secrets, stories, etc hidden in. Only few have the key and as odd as this sounds, you may not even have the key to your own box. You can try your hardest to break into the box or you can try your hardest to keep it locked because you are scared to see what is inside, but sometimes it takes someone else other than yourself to 'open your pandora's box' in order to help you discover things you may or may not knew existed about yourself.

A few months ago someone unintentionally opened my box. (Ok, now this is starting to sound funny, but lets be serious for a second here...) I felt a release. I felt I could express everything that was locked up, hidden, and stored away. As if I had been climbing up the walls of a well begging for a release. The contents that had been hidden deep inside this box were now flowing at a rapid pace. It was over-whelming to find this new person who had been hidden and locked up inside this box for who knows how long. Maybe my whole life, maybe the last few years, I couldn't tell you. All I can tell you is that once I discovered the contents inside my very own Pandora's box, my entire view on life had changed completely. I wanted to make a difference, I wanted to do something for not only myself, but for everyone who is involved in my life.
