The recreational porn viewer of lesbian films may think that having Melissa Monet direct the Sweetheart Video all-girl pornification of the Fifty Shades of Grey phenomenon is strange. However, her most loyal and die-hard fans already know that she is the perfect person to head this production. This woman is a kinky and erotic tigress. She knows when it's time to pounce when she sees an opportunity. By contrast, Melissa is a master of keeping herself in the background and allowing her performers have real intense sex without much influence. She is someone who lets them get all worn out in front of her and then, she swoops in to give them her high praise and congratulatory remarks. For many of her performers, they forget that Melissa is even in the room.

As for her Sweetheart Video Fifty Shades of Pink production, Justine Joli is the right woman to show us what BDSM is all about and to apply it in a very sensual and erotic way. I have to give much credit to Melissa for casting Kirsten Price in her very significant role. This former Wicked Girl needs to be showcased in more all-girl films and with meaty roles. Versatile all-around performer Dana Dearmond is a "no-brainer" and Sinn Sage exudes sex. Maddy O'Reilly and Kiera Winters are yummy sexual delights. There is no doubt that this film will be one of the most anticipated for 2013.

Hi Melissa, it is great that you have made an all-girl film that is inspired by the Fifty Shades of Grey phenomenon. Could you tell us what the viewer can expect from your version?

I’ve been involved with the BDSM community for a very, very long time, both on film and off, so this was the perfect project for me. You can expect a story that revolves around the main character and not so much hitting, or degrading, but an understanding of what BDSM is all about.

While you were reading Fifty Shades of Grey, did you end up having certain adult starlets pop in your head for the characters? OR in case you did not read the book, you can answer this question instead. When you learned about the sexual nature of Fifty Shades of Grey, were there any adult female stars that popped into your head immediately that you wanted them to be in your film?

Whoopsie…I didn’t read it.  In honesty, I tried to read it, but it was like pabulum and I’m on solid food.  The very first person that popped into my head was Justine Joli. I couldn’t imagine doing this movie without her. She is one of the sexiest women to ever grace pornography and she understands BDSM in every sense of the word.

What is your opinion on the usage of kink, fetish, and BDSM activities to broaden someone's sexual fantasies or to spice up a couple's sex life?

I couldn’t imagine someone not wanting to add various things to their sexual activities. Kink is so different from BDSM as is fetish. Those descriptions have melded way too much for my taste. BDSM is about freedom, about allowing someone you trust implicitly take you beyond your comfort zone. It has nothing to do with violence, or kink or even fetish per se, it’s a lifestyle, not a thing. Fetish is a need for an object to either replace a person or the need in order to achieve orgasm and kink is just something someone else does and you haven’t tried yet. Everyone should experience all of the above.

Fifty Shades of Grey is considered to be mommy porn. Why do you think that this erotic novel has become so enormously popular and captured the fascination of mainstream America especially with women?

I think it’s because people want to try new things, but don’t know what to try. A lot of erotica out there is too extreme for them and in some cases is just written for more intelligent people. This was a mass produced book to hit the reality show/romance novel crowd. I personally enjoyed Anne Rice’s “Beauty” books, well written and much more extreme. It also got more into the psychology of the characters.

Many of your fans know that you make incredibly intense and erotic sex scenes whether you are in them or are directing them. What is your approach in collecting that intensity among the performers? Are there certain things that you tell them?

You can’t teach “hot” or “sexy” so you try and get people who are those things and pair them with other people who are too. It doesn’t always work, but that’s the essence of what you try to do. You can’t get a bad performance from certain girls no matter how bad their co-star is. That’s the best formula. I also try to have girls that know what it is I’m trying to achieve, like in this case, I really didn’t have to tell someone like Sinn Sage what to do…lol.

Could you define in your own words the terms eroticism and sensuality? Are they different when a woman is making love to a man as compared to when she is making love to a woman?

Eroticism is more of a tangible thing to me. If something or someone is erotic it could be for some reason, their body language, or the way they speak. Sensuality is more of an esoteric thing. You either have it or you don’t. It’s the way you feel and that becomes the way you make someone else feel. Anyone sensual is also erotic, but a lot of eroticism is not sensual. As for man to woman/woman to woman/man to man, it's no difference to me. You make love to a person, not a gender.

Any Fifty Shades parody that leaves out Dana Dearmond is one that would be missing out. Why do you think that Dana is one of the best all-around performers in the industry?

That fucking kid cracks me up!  She’s the whole package…a funny, smart ass, beautiful, sensual fuck machine!  And she’s never late and always prepared.  I adore her and her nasty little snipes…lol.

When it comes to role playing between women, do you think that a woman being playful to another woman is pretty natural? It's just their nature to be attracted to women right? One could say that girls just want to have fun.

I think that a woman that is willing to experience anything will also allow herself to have fun. I’m not sure if I’m answering your question correctly, but girls in general are just more playful period.

How has your relationship with Mile High Media been working out? It's great that you are directing Sweetheart Video films. Your first directed film for them Mother Lovers Society 7 deserves to be nominated for Best All-Girl Release.

Oh, thank you, I hope it gets nommed too! I love Mile High. They’ve been great to me. I love everyone in the office in Canada and the crew here in LA. They have great communication and they care about each and every movie that is put out from the ideas through the script, through getting your “t’s” crossed and your “I’s” dotted!  I feel blessed to have the opportunity and I hope I have a very long working relationship with them. As you know, I’ve been in a lot of their movies as well, so it really is a good fit.

Could you describe the atmosphere around the set while filming this production? Were you drained while filming and watching those intense sex performances?

Haha…truth? I almost had to be tied down not to jump into them. The smell of the pheromones in the air, their beautiful naked bodies, and the sound of sex. I’m very primal and all these senses kick in hard. I also masturbated while I was writing it, so that made me even more horny!

Do you have any plans to make sequels to your 50 Shades of Pink movie?

One could only hope, but that’s up to the powers that be and not me. I’m grateful for any opportunity to direct again and I have so many more ideas for the next one. It’s stupid!

Mile High just released “Mother Lover’s 7” which I directed and “Mother Lover’s 8” which I’m in that James Avalon directed. It will be out soon then it’s “50 Shades of Pink” all the way!
