Genesis Hot List 100 … Who is No. 1

As a freelance writer in the adult film industry I am pretty proud of my accomplishments over the past few years. But I am none more proud to have landed a great writing job at GENESIS MAGAZINE. My editor, Dan Davis, is a super cool guy and come to find out we grew up in the same big hair metal era, I've seen the pictures to prove it. And despite the guy is a New York Giants fan, which beat my beloved Green Bay Packers in the 2007 NFC Championship game AT Lambeau Field no less, I still think Dan is still a really cool guy.

At the beginning of each year the porn industry gets all dolled up for the AVN Awards, AEE Convention, the XRCO Awards (which I am a proud member) and I, well I get ready to knock out the annual Genesis Hot List 100, a special supplement of the magazine which lists the biggest movers and shakers in the industry over the last 365 days.

The list is compiled by the suggestions of my fellow writers and everyone who works at Genesis, but when all is said and done for the last three years, I have had the pleasure of researching my ass off to write small bios of the 100 chosen ones. It is pretty hard, but it is pretty fun because there are COUNTLESS girls in the industry now. And when you don't get screeners from some companies who shall remain nameless, but you know who you are, it is hard for me to nominate their contract girls when I have never seen their films.

All that being said, lately I have been wondering what makes a porn star better than the other one. I've never like the fact of awards to be honest, especially in the music industry where they vote on what persons art is better than the other. I don't feel art should be judged because it is all a matter of interpretation.

However with the Hot List it is broken down into a lot of little fragments which tells us who is No. 1 and who should be in the top 10 or in the bottom 50. So much rides on this from press, marketing, appearances and not to mention how good they are in their sex scenes and what they do in said scenes. I could judge those scenes all day long to be honest.

I always trust Dan's judgment because he is hip deep in porn. This guy busts his ass like no one I know in the business. And if you have ever seen Dan in person he could easily bust your ass with his "big Guns."

No matter who gets No. 1 or No. 27 or even No. 89 there will be some sort of minor (or (major) uproar on ADT or XPT or whatever message board because the fans will disagree. They all have their favorites and always want those girls at the top no matter what. You can't please everyone, so you better please yourself. And in this business that goes without sayin.

The time has come and I will be swamped up to my eyes in porn, not a bad gig if you can get it, and I am lucky to be here and that Dan trusts my writing skills, or the lack there of. But if your favorite porn darling doesn't get picked No. 1 or even make the list, don't shoot me, I am just the messenger.
