Pure Taboo Breaks Taboos Like Nobody Else Does!

Adult Time's edgiest and top selling channel Pure Taboo has just celebrated its fifth anniversary and damn, people still love having their boundaries pushed and their minds warped and titillated bu this hot and award winning studio. Lunched in September of 2017, the channel is all about edgy and occasionally disturbing erotic storytelling with lots of performer collaborations and engaging as hell spinoffs like the moody, well-written sci-fi Future Darkly series and the truly unforgettable horror-themed Under The Bed series. Here is what Adult Time Marketing Director Frank Guay had to say about the future of this one of a kind studio.

Hello, Frank! How are you doing? How are things going?

"I am doing great! Things have been quite busy lately with Adult Time, so I don’t have much time to be bored."

A huge congrats on five years of Pure Taboo! How does it feel to be celebrating that?

"It feels to me like we launched it yesterday! It’s crazy how time flies. It’s been five years of Pure Taboo and, while the industry landscape has changed quite a bit in those few years, it’s amazing that Pure Taboo is still our top-selling studio brand within the Adult Time portfolio. It feels good knowing that I have been a part of creating an adult product that resonates so well with porn fans."

What do you remember most from the channel’s creation?

"I remember that it was a fairly long process to find the right recipe. We had launched Girlsway before which was an instant success, but it was not the case for Pretty Dirty, our second original studio brand and our first straight product. We tinkered with Pretty Dirty over months, trying to find ways to make it appealing. The darker the episodes got and the edgier they were, the best reception they would get. So we knew we were on the right track.

Back then, I worked as a Design Team Manager at Gamma, so I was heavily involved in branding. We took a lot of risks with Pure Taboo, and I remember the balls-to-the-wall approach to crafting this new studio. We made loads of bold decisions, both in the way we shoot the product and market it. When we rebranded Pretty Dirty as Pure Taboo, I think everyone knew we had something unique on our hands."

What would you consider to be the site’s biggest artistic achievements?

"I think the model collabs we did with performers are some of the coolest initiatives we got to work on for Pure Taboo. The fact that, as a brand, it is so rooted in heavy story-telling, allowed us to work alongside top talent to bring their stories to life. We were approached by many high-profile stars to collaborate on episodes, with a memorable one being The Weight Of Infidelity which was a featurette about body shaming created by Angela White and featuring plus-size model Karla Lane in a sex role. At the time, this was unheard of."

I remember at the beginning how special and over the top the kink and the emotion of these scenes felt. How do you work to keep that sensation going for your viewers?

"I think it’s mostly about the stories and the characters we developed to carry out the fantasies. Our Pre-Production team brainstorms multiple times per week to come up with new interesting concepts.

And then there’s the casting that’s also very important. If I take an episode like Taking Care Of Mom starring Syren De Mer, what made it special was the portrayal of the grieving mother and how far she is willing to go to maintain her family around her in trying times. Most of our stories are existing porn tropes, but played seriously. The tropes might change over time (we have seen, for example, the rise in popularity of free-use scenarios in the last few months), but the tone stays consistent."

Will we see the return of the Future Darkly series anytime soon? Are there any new series like this on the horizon?

"We currently don’t have any plans to bring back Future Darkly. And while we do not have any series lined up for Pure Taboo specifically, a lot of the content offering on Adult Time in the last year was developed to be in part complementary to it or tested on it first. That’s why we released ongoing series such as Mommy’s Boy or explored POV family roleplay through our pilot called Unparental Guidance."

What are your favorite Pure Taboo scenes that resonated the most with you?

"Personally, I have a special attachment to our Under The Bed spinoff series, since I was acting as executive producer for the project and we shot half of it near Montreal, and it was a unique experience and a fun opportunity. Plus, I love Halloween.

Some of the model collabs left a long-lasting impact on me as well, and they really changed my perspective on some of the actors featured in them and the skillsets they have when it comes to performing that you don’t get to see often."

If you could cast any celebrity in a Pure Taboo scene, who would you want to see perform?

"I would cast Salma Hayek as a mom for sure - but it would be my answer for any celebrity-related porn questions. Cast her in Girlsway, Modern-Day Sins, Transfixed. Anywhere. MORE SALMA HAYEK!

Seriously, and maybe a bit of a weird answer, if I could cast a mainstream actress in a Pure Taboo shoot, I would be curious to see someone like Toni Collette, who played the mother in Hereditary. Her acting chops would make for one hell of a porn scene I think."

What is coming up on Pure Taboo? What should viewers be on the lookout for?

"One thing to look forward to in the upcoming weeks is a special project directed by our new Adult Time Ambassador Lauren Phillips."

Is there anything that you would like to say to your Pure Taboo fans here at Fleshbot?

"Thanks to everyone who’s been there from the start. It’s been a wild ride and we will keep making more groundbreaking adult content on Pure Taboo and on Adult Time in the future."
