1953 was the year Marilyn’s Hollywood career really exploded, first with her sensationally sexy role opposite screen sirens Betty Grable and Lauren Bacall in How to Marry a Millionaire! She steals the show right out from under her more famous co-stars by parading around in a coral-colored swimsuit that really pops thanks to Technicolor! That same year, Marilyn appeared opposite brunette bombshell Jane Russell in the aptly titled Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, once again stealing her more famous co-star’s thunder!
1954's musical revue There’s No Business Like Show Business finds Marilyn sporting a pair of sexy and revealing outfits as she shimmies and shakes her way across the stage! It was the following year’s The Seven Year Itch that gave us Marilyn’s most iconic on-screen moment ever when she straddles a subway grate in a white dress and then does her best to keep co-star Tom Ewell from seeing her lady business! 1956's Bus Stop finds Marilyn crooning “That Old Black Magic” and giving us some great cleavage!
Marilyn’s star exploded with her role as Sugar Kane Kowalczyk in Billy Wilder’s 1959 comedy classic Some Like it Hot! Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon compete for Sugar Kane’s affections while also attempting to maintain their own cross-dressing charade and hilarity and sexiness ensues! The following year’s Let’s Make Love finds Marilyn pushing the sexual bounds again opposite French star Yves Montand, with the buxom beauty showing off in a completely see-through dress!
1961's The Misfits is sadly best known for being Marilyn’s final film, opposite Clark Gable in his final role, but it’s also the first time we got a taste of Marilyn’s mams on film with two brief nip slips! The following year, her unfinished work on Something’s Got to Give was released, with Marilyn going skinny dipping to give us our best look at her nude body in motion! Finally, a full 35 years after her death, the documentary Marilyn Monroe: The Mortal Goddess brought us some remastered looks at her famous nude photoshoot back when she was known as Norma Jean Baker. It was a bittersweet reminder of the joy Marilyn brought to millions in her heyday, but we’ll never stop carrying the torch for the greatest blonde bombshell of them all!
