Porn legend Nina Hartley stars in the debut scene of Adult Time's new channel Age And Beauty, a new channel created by Bree Mills that is dedicated to the beauty of older women. She was also recently nominated for an AVN Award for her non-sex role as a sex robot-creating scientist in Pure Taboo's "Future Darkly". Here's what Hartley had to say about the site and her incredible life.

So how are you doing, Nina? How are things with you?
"Fine, thanks. Life is exciting."

You did a wonderful scene on the new Adult Time channel Age and Beauty. What did you enjoy most out of working with Justin Hunt?
"Thank you. I enjoy working with people who are new to me but also experienced as professional sex partners. It makes it easier to play to reality: our characters have not previously been intimate but we as individual performers know our way around a scene and what’s required, so it flowed well."

How was working with Adult Time creator Bree Mills? How did she approach you about doing the first scene for this new channel?
"She took the trope of 'horny milf seeks young cock' and changed the angle of entry into the older woman/younger man dynamic. In our culture, age and experience in a female partner are not always seen as a positive, while in real life many women report a surge of sexual confidence and freedom once they pass age 40. She set the mood for sex and not just go through the motions by taking her time with the lead up to it."

What do you think of how society views the sexuality of women as they age?
"Generally, dismally, Benjamin Franklin notwithstanding. It’s only been relatively recently that women have been granted full citizenship, including sexual rights (at least in the West, at least on paper, at least if one is white), and allowed to develop their potential, including sexually.

Women tend to become invisible as sexual beings once they reach a certain age or appearance. I’ve experienced it, myself, since I hit middle age. If I’m not dressed to invite sexual attention, I no longer get any, though I’m as interested in sex as much as ever. The invisibility of the older woman is real thing. I feel genuine compassion for women who are heterosexual and monogamous, as the people they need to be happy, whole and partnered (heterosexual, age-appropriate men) so often seem to pursue women decades younger.
I’m aware that if I express genuine sexual interest in a much younger person it’s seen as humorous at best, creepy/inappropriate at worst, and that’s just because of my age, as I’m the same, sexually, as I’ve been all along.

That being said I see more and more couples in real life where the woman is 15-20 years the senior of their male partners. As well, being 50+ now is nothing like being 50+ when Boomers were young. Boomers came of age when sex for fun was okay and they’re not giving it up without a fight."

What has surprised you most about how your own sexual appetites have evolved as you have aged?
"That my interest in sex has only grown. Not just as an activity, but as an area of study, a basis for community and a worthy subject for social activism. It’s wonderful to be fully at home with myself, my desires, my body and my emotions. I’m the same person I was when I was in high school, just without any of the issues we all have at that age. I’ve found an enduring love with a worthy partner with whom I can combine physical sex with full emotional intimacy, which is very exciting."

A big congrats on your AVN Awards nomination for Best Non-Sex Performance for your role in Pure Taboo's "Future Darkly". What did you enjoy most about playing your role of a futuristic robot designer in this?
"It was my first time working with Ms. Mills, whom I had met at a convention a year or so before. I loved her take on directing: she gave us a detailed overview of what she needed, including key phrases/ideas, and then let the performers improv from there. She took the time to get it just right, including multiple takes (!), which I very much appreciated. I like that she has developed a small repertory company who know her shorthand. Her crew is a delight and I look forward to working with her again."

If you could have your very own sex robot of anyone, would you want one? Who would you choose for it to be a replication of?
"I don’t think so. I have sex toys to create any sensation I want. A fake whole person as a masturbatory object would not be an improvement, in my view."

You are a fantastic woman and you have been the lust object of many porn fans for a very long time. What has that journey rewarded you with?
"Thank you! I’m rewarded with my experience, my expertise, my ability to touch people on deep levels without myself being lost, subsumed or pulled off of center. I’m a sexual healer, so the more experience I acquire, the better I am at my chosen profession. I have a large circle of close friends and sexual partners. A wonderful chosen family. An amazing romantic partner. International travel.

To have had enough sex to lose my fear of it but not my respect for it.

Knowing that I’ve helped a lot of people with very personal, deep issues has been very rewarding.

Plus, lots of amazing sex with a lot of lovely people."

What else is coming up for you?
"I have a new, SFW site, nina.live, where I offer individual and group consultations. I’ve finally joined Instagram. I have a new relationship after 18 years of marriage. I’m more excited than ever to leverage my knowledge to help more people, including those who have never seen an adult movie. 2019 marks my 35th anniversary in porn and I still love my job. I continue to sit on the board of the Woodhull Freedom Foundation , working at the intersection of sexual rights and human rights."

Is there anything you would like to say to your fans here at Fleshbot?
"Yes. Thank you! Thank you for following me for all of these years as I continue to explore what’s next in the world of sex, sexuality and sexual expression. I love sharing what I’ve learned with interested people. Sexual freedom is a fundamental human right and everybody with a body can develop a sexual life that’s right for them."
