August Ames and Her Suicide Are The Subject of a New Audible Podcast

RIP August Ames

Porn star August Ames and her 2017 suicide are the subject of a new Audible podcast called "The Last Days Of August". Ames died on December 5th, 2017. The Ventura County, California Medical Examiner confirmed to the media soon after Ames' death that Ames died of asphyxiation due to hanging.

Journalist Jon Ronson and producer Lina Misitzis worked together to create the podcast. Ames killed herself following some controversial statements on her Twitter feed where she objected to working with "crossover" male performers which are male performers who work both with cis female and trans performers. Tweets by male performer Jaxton Wheeler and Wicked Pictures contract star jessica drake were a  part of the backlash that Ames received to her what some considered to be homophobic tweets and the topic of social media bullying loomed large in the thoughts of many as a reason behind Ames' suicide.

Ronson gets into that topic in this along with extensive interviews with Ames' widower/Evil Angel director Kevin Moore, Ames' brother James, AVN Hall of Famer Lisa Ann and drake, among others. The podcast definitely paints the picture that tweets alone were not the sole cause behind Ames' choice to end her life.
