We were too busy doing ethnographic field research here in New Orleans this past weekend to attend the New York premiere of "Inside Deep Throat" on Monday, but the NY Times helpfully provides a summary of the wacky panel discussion which followed the screening in which pro-porn lawyer Alan Dershowitz, anti-porn lawyer Catharine MacKinnon, and ambivalently-attituded-towards-porn-but-willing-to-make-a-buck-or-two-off-it-anyway publisher Judith Regan went, er, head-to-head to discuss the significance and ramifications of the classic 1972 smut film. Best line of the evening: Dershowitz telling MacKinnon, "Michigan thinks that everything Harvard can do, it can do meta." (No, we don't really know what it was supposed to mean either. But it sounds good.)
