As one of the (real) talking heads in director Allison de Fren's short documentary film on robot fetishism reminds us, the ASFR (alt.sex.fetish.robots, named after a now-defunct Usenet group) phenomenon has its roots in the classical Pygmalion myth—and now includes such wide ranging yet related offshoots as mannequin and transformation fetish, hypno- and sleepy sex, and hyperrealistic love dolls ... all of which involve "not so much the objectification of females as (they do) the feminization of objects", to quote another ASFR aficionado from the film. If you've ever wanted to know why we here at Fleshbot are so smitten with the whole female android thing, this video from 2001 is a good place to start exploring.
