What with "Deep Throat" hitting theatres again and his own "Taboo" series being re-released, Kirdy Stevens has made his "The Animal in Me" available by DVD for consumers who didn't get a chance to see it at their local sticky-floored Rialto 20 years ago. Granted, we were sold by the very simple boxcover featuring Colleen Brennan as (of course) an "inhibited romance novelist" who is probably not inhibited for long, but we were also intrigued by the timeless concept of being controlled by The Other inside us and, by extension, Loving the Alien.
Maybe we thought about it too much. But then again, un-busy boxcovers are all about leaving something to the imagination. - GP
