Jai Lennard: Strange Love

At first glance, Bay Area-based photographer Jai Lennard's pictures look like the usual sort of sofa-sized stuff you see on the walls of galleries everywhere from San Francisco to West 26th Street: stark, rigorously composed images of pretty twentysomethings posing seriously in mundane domestic settings. Then you start to notice the kinky details: the pile of used bananas on the floor near the model lounging in an armchair; the rubber glove on the young gent in the doorway while his lover (or victim?) stretches nudely in the background; the strange bruises on the faces of an otherwise placid looking couple sitting on a loveseat. It's lovely work that manages to walk that fine line between erotic and disturbing, and we suppose the part of the point is showing how kink can lurk in the most ordinary of situations. (Which is something we're well acquainted with here at Fleshbot: we may look all respectable siitting here in our usual Casual Friday attire, but we're wearing a garter belt and no panties underneath our Dockers as we're writing this.)
