Newlook: How Do You Say “Lad Mag” In French?

As you are painfully aware, we are avid readers of British lad mags like Nuts and Zoo Weekly (and Ralph and Loaded and all the rest), because you know ... they're in English. In fact, we talk about them so much that you might think the genre of substantive content-free men's magazines built around photos of topless models begins and ends with FHM. But there are other places that have been doing it (possibly) longer and (arguably) better. Take Newlook magazine, which has the look, feel, style and attitude of today's lad mags down pat, but has apparently already been at it for 25 years or so. So maybe the French have more in common with us than we like to admit? Of course, they also invented the French kiss, the French tickler, and the French maid, so maybe we're just one step behind.
