“Bonny & Clide” Rob Banks, Steal Our Hearts.

"Bonny & Clide" was promoted as a jewel of Bluebird Films, and their attempt to class up the porn parody with high production values and decent storylines is pretty incredible. We hope for more naughty historical dramas in the future.

Star (and producer) Paul Chaplin makes an entertaining and convincing Clide, though no one appears particularly intimidated by him. He's more goofy/sleazy than menacing/sleazy, but this works well for him; in the first encounter, a threesome with Madison Fox and Phoenix Marie, the girls make out while Chaplin rains cash down on them from above. For everything else, there's Mastercard.

Chaplin has superb chemistry with Natasha Marley as Bonny, and their banter is pretty enjoyable. "You're never gonna marry a preacher's son like that," Clide snarks as he licks Bonny's ass. Their fucking is boisterous and they seem to have genuine affection for one another. You can almost believe the love-at-first-sight that they're celebrating. Marley is sugary-sweet, but with a playful, snarky edge, and she keeps taking charge of both of Clide's weapons. This is apparently her first porn film, and she really nailed it (pun intended.)

Though each of the over fifty performers was great, honorable mention must go out to Tommy Gunn, as Marshall Frank Hammer. Both the uniform and the air of authority suit him, as he drops lines like, "Would you help me with my sidearm?" His pursuit of Bonny and Clide never quite makes sense in the context of the film, though; aside from the opening scene, in which Clide is making out with a woman he took hostage while robbing a bank, the infamous pair never seem to stop fucking long enough to perpetrate any crimes. In fact, they're the only ones who die in the entire movie.

Though the lack of pubic hair and rampant presence of both fake tits and Chinese character tats do detract from the near-period appropriate costuming, the struggles to escape from flapper dresses and the cheeky removal of pearls and hats are totally endearing. The whole film is more along the lines of an SNL parody than a Lee Roy Myers XXX send-up, and that sense of humor is what carries the performances and makes the entire thing worth watching. No one is trying too hard to be convincing; everyone is there to have fun by pretending to be raunchy Twenties-era gangsters and molls and participate in some genuinely enthusiastic fucking. Sometimes the jazzy soundtrack overwhelms the dialogue, but sometimes that's a good thing, since it saves us from inconsistent and half-hearted Southern accents. Everyone, from the cinematographer to the performers to us, the viewers, are in on the joke with this movie, and it ultimately makes "Bonny & Clide" a sexier and funnier porn experience.
