Fleshbot: What makes The Art of Blowjob feminist porn? Follow up: Do you intend your work to be received this way?

Camille Crimson: I think The Art of Blowjob is feminist for a few different reasons. First, 2/3 of our company is women and we want to represent women in a healthy, positive way. I'm a feminist and this is what I want to do. I try to use my blog, social media and any platform I can access to get across the message that just because I love giving blowjobs and my videos are only about blowjobs doesn't mean that all women give blowjobs and expect nothing in return. It's a specialized niche site... That doesn't mean that I don't have lots of different kinds of sex and receive lots of pleasure in my personal life. But most of all, I think my site is a way of showing that women can have agency as both givers and receivers of pleasure. Any time a woman is enjoying sex, doing it on her own terms and doing it the way she wants, it's a feminist act.

How did you and Mike meet? And at what point did you turn to each other and say, "Let's make porn"?

Mike and I actually met when I was a waitress in my family's restaurant, which was close to where he worked at the time. He would come in and order from me and eventually he asked me out, which was exactly what I had wanted! It was pretty perfect.

We didn't actually start making porn until almost a decade later. I was working in web design/coding and he had been doing lots of photography and videography. We had a fun and adventurous sex life, but we kept our photos to ourselves for the time being. We had a website development company together and we were stiffed on a really big contract. Since we had our own website for Mac enthusiasts, we decided to post a few of the erotic photos we had been taking in our private time with a little tip jar, just to see if anything happened that might subsidize the hit we took from the contract falling through.

It quickly became one of the most popular and profitable aspects of our site, and we decided to pursue it further by making our first photography site (Dolorem), which eventually gave way to The Art of Blowjob. It's not the most conventional route, but it is something that we are so happy we found it. This is absolutely our calling!

If Mike were to make a companion site to The Art of Blowjob, what would he call it? That is, we all know that you're a spectacular giver of head, but what is your favorite form of pleasure to receive?

Definitely it would have to be The Art of Cunnilingus. He's very good at what he does. Unfortunately, he's a little camera shy, so that's something that we won't be focusing on for the time being...

Why did you stop working on Dolorem and decide to focus on The Art of Blowjob?

Dolorem was all about photography, which was a lot of fun, but we realized we wanted to focus more on including video. While we did try a couple of videos with the whole generic sex/solo play feel of Dolorem, it wasn't quite dynamic enough. Blowjobs are really fun to shoot, they're really visual and there's a lot of blowjob porn out there, but very little that is presented in a sensual and beautiful way. So why not just focus on what we do best?

What are some of your favorite props to include in oral sex? (Be they food, sex toys, clothing, restraints, special furniture.)

Honestly, I can't pick. It definitely helps to have some technical skills, a nice camera/nice lens and some editing skills. But, as for the content itself, it's all about displaying your connection, doing things that make your partner feel good and working your angles so that we can really see what's going on. It's also advantageous to put some effort into the ambiance, whether that's using particular outfits, picking a nice, bright place to shoot and putting some effort into deciding what kind of a style you're going for. Even little things like knowing where you want the cumshot to go will really go a long way in terms of things looking beautiful and well-orchestrated. Fundamentally, it's all about the two (or, I guess, more?) of you and how well you can display the passion in a real and beautiful way.

Sort of a follow-up question: How do you come up with the scenarios featured in your movies?

That's kind of a mixed bag. Sometimes they're based on stuff that's happened in real life with us that we just recreate, like a morning blowjob or a blowjob while we're doing laundry. Sometimes we take a roleplaying scenario and expand it a bit. But we do also take suggestions from time to time, which end up being fun as long as they're not too complicated to execute.

You've enjoyed some solo play on your site from time to time. Do you have any plans to expand to a solo site? Related: what's your favorite sex toy currently?

It's an idea we're toying with, no pun intended. It's not the top priority, but it would definitely be a lot of fun.
