Well, James Deen certainly is having the cultural moment, isn't he? In short shrift, the dashing young pornstar has been profiled by Good Magazine, Nightline, and the New York Observer, with the possibility of a role in a Bret Easton Ellis movie being dangled in front of him as well.

We're thrilled to see the mainstream media catching on to what we've known for years (that James Deen is awesome, duh), but we're a little perturbed by insinuations that James Deen is somehow unique in being an awesome male pornstar. Frankly, there are a lot of wonderful, awesome men in the adult trade who are equally deserving of attention--and if the mainstream media won't do the research on them, well, they can just crib from our list right here.

Tommy Pistol: James Deen may be about to make his mainstream movie debut--but Tommy Pistol's been writing, directing, and acting in nonporno movies for years. Between "The Gruesome Death of Tommy Pistol" (pre-order here!), "Frankie in Blunderland", and "Breath of Hate", Tommy's proven he's got some serious acting chops; and have we mentioned he's devilishly handsome and incredibly funny to boot?

Yeah, we were sold--and we're still pretty bummed more of the mainstream media hasn't picked up on his awesomeness.

Xander Corvus: Much has been made of James Deen's non-porny appearance, but what of Xander Corvus's scruffy good looks? We know many a lady whose heart goes pitter pat for this Skeet Ulrich-lookalike, who certainly defies the stereotype of male pornstar as muscle bound gym rat.
