The Encyclopedia Of Smut: J Is For Jizz

In honor of Jiz Lee Week, we've decided to take a closer look at jizz! You know what we mean: sperm, spunk, splooge, skeet, come (or cum), semen, baby batter, man milk, etc. It holds an important place in pornography, but have you ever stopped and wondered why? Do you ever ponder the mysteries of ejaculation? We do. Let's do it together.

For the record, Jiz Lee's name comes from a splice between their offstage name and the fact that they're a rather prodigious producer of jizz.

Everybody Loves Semen?

Ok, not everybody loves the stuff, but it's been fetishized throughout history! For example, Marquis de Sade was enjoying facials back in 1785; "The 120 Days of Sodom" includes the passage, "I show them my prick, then what do you suppose I do? I squirt the fuck in their face... That's my passion my child, I have no other... and you're about to behold it." We highly doubt he was the first man to come on another's face--we almost feel like Caligula has that honor--but he was certainly the first to write about it in such a precise and spectacular way.

Of course, semen has always been a big deal in some fashion, as have most body fluids. There are countless ancient myths from the Egyptians, Sumerians, Chinese, Japanese, and others that involve spirits ejaculating on food, gods coming in their own mouths, deities flooding riverbeds with their semen, and even a dragon whose semen hardens and becomes jade. We're not saying that blood and shit aren't just as important, but since ejaculation (generally) requires some sexual excitement, it holds a special significance.

Come as a Commodity

On a basic level, pornography aims to transform every aspect of sex into a visual medium, and there's no better way to let your eyeballs know that a man has orgasmed--and how hard he orgasmed--than by having him shoot his seed in the air. Almost every piece of hardcore pornography that includes men ends with a cumshot, and this has been the norm since the '70s. In fact, there's a famous bit in Stephen Ziplow's "The Film Maker's Guide to Pornography" that states, "There are those who believe that the come shot, or, as some refer to it, 'the money shot', is the most important element in the movie and that everything else (if necessary) should be sacrificed at its expense. Of course, this depends on the outlook of the producer, but the one thing is for sure: if you don't have the come shots, you don't have a porno picture."

We all know that the term "money shot" refers to the climactic cumshot near the end of a porn scene, but it was originally applied to whatever scene in a movie cost the most to film, whether due to special effects, stunts, or any other reason. The pornographic money shot gets its name from the fact that male performers are paid extra for a successful cumshot (at least, that's what Linda Williams writes) and because, arguably, it's the moment that consumers are truly paying for when they purchase porn.

Fun with Come!

If you're reading this site, you probably know a thing or two about how semen is used and displayed in pornography, so a detailed list isn't exactly necessary. That being said, here we go:

· Cumshots - They come in a variety of flavors! The face is the most common spot to deposit one, but the pubes, vulva, ass, buttcheeks, back, stomach, boobs, feet, and neck (see: pearl necklace) are all often ejaculated upon.

· Creampies - They're also known as internal cumshots and, in gay porn parlance, breeding. A creampie is anytime ejaculation takes place inside an orifice and then oozes out for the camera. These didn't get popular in porn until the 2000s (although gay bareback films likely showed them before straight films did). · Snowballing - The basic term for this is "cumswapping," but both words refer to the act of transferring wads of spunk from one mouth to another, usually by kissing. Snowballing, which Wikipedia says was a term originally used by homosexuals, gets its name from the increased volume of fluid that is passed between mouths as saliva joins the semen. Try it the next time you engage in group sex!

· Bukkake - It's an event in which numerous men ejaculate onto the face of a single person. This differs from gokkun, in which numerous men come in some receptacle from which a designated person drinks. As we learned from our lesson about Japanese censorship practices, this arose in part because genitals get blurred out in Japanese porn, but bodily fluids do not.

· Snorting - Lord knows who invented this or why, but there are quite a few porn films that involve women snorting come up their noses as if it were a goopy drug. We don't judge people here at Fleshbot, but even we think this is pretty absurd.

Female Ejaculation

This really deserves its own encyclopedia entry--especially when you consider that it's made appearances in Western medical literature as early as the 16th century--but we'd be remiss if we didn't represent lady jizz in this post. In short, female ejaculation is when a noticable amount of clear to light yellow fluid gushes, shoots, or erupts from a woman's vagina before or during orgasm. To this day, there is intense debate about where the fluid comes from, what the fluid is made of, if (and how much) urine is involved, how (and if at all) it's related to the G-spot, and many other questions.

Squirting is an ever-increasingly popular facet of porn, and though certain pornstars have said that they fake it sometimes and merely piss during a scene, others swear that female ejaculation is real and can induce a much stronger orgasm.

For the record, we believe that female ejaculation is real, and we're big fans of the sight, too. Squirting is a glorious visual confirmation of orgasm, and while male cumshots only give you a glimpse at the guy's genitals getting red and explosive while he grunts, female cumshots are usually accompanied by full body spasms, loud wails, and other sexual fireworks. Sure, part of that is probably performance for the camera, but the point remains the same: vaginas can jizz, too!
