Hobby Lobby Happy To Cover Contraceptives… If You’re A Dude

Hobby Lobby scored a big victory at the Supreme Court yesterday when 5 men decided that it was okay for this business to exercise religious freedom by denying women access to certain contraceptives. Oddly enough, however, viagra and vasectomies both continue to be covered by their insurance plan.

By the way, what is a lobbyist working for Hobby Lobby called? A Hobby Lobbyist? A Hobby Lobby Lobbyist? But I digress. The owner of Hobby Lobby, Jack Asshole, or whatever his name is, penned an open letter to the totally not at all partisan site Life News where he stated...

(O)ur government threatens to change all of that. A new government health care mandate says that our family business MUST provide what I believe are abortion-causing drugs as part of our health insurance. Being Christians, we don’t pay for drugs that might cause abortions, which means that we don’t cover emergency contraception, the morning-after pill or the week-after pill. We believe doing so might end a life after the moment of conception, something that is contrary to our most important beliefs. It goes against the Biblical principles on which we have run this company since day one.

Okay, so they don't believe in contraceptive products that "cause abortions." The funny thing about the so-called "Morning After" pill is that it doesn't "cause abortions." It actually prevents the need for them. Read about it here, facts can be fascinating.

So, one would think that since, as a Christian organization, they oppose birth control, they would then oppose vasectomies. Nope! According to Daily Buzz Live (link below) they're fine with their male employees getting viagra, vasectomies, and penis pumps.

The craft store chain, which is owned by evangelical Christians, now does not have to pay for contraception for its female employees. Apparently it is prohibited by its owner’s religion. However, pills and pumps that help stiffen their male employees is perfectly acceptable to the evangelical Christian craft store owner. Hobby lobby has still has not explained why it does not object to covering the cost of its male employees vasectomy. The company has not released any statement as of yet.

Nor should you expect them to. This is the sort of hypocrisy that so-called "religious organizations" traffic in. It's their stock in trade, always has been, always will be.
