Twenty Questions with Scarlet LaVey

1) What kind of girl were you back in high school? Who did you hang out with/date?

I carried some timidness from middle school with me into freshman year. You know, you formulate a hefty amount of preconceptions about high school and when you get there it’s a little overwhelming. I went to an arts high school so while there weren’t any sports there were still the general cliques, just in different packaging. I became very into hardcore as the local music scene was vibrant at the time. Hometown bands like Evergreen Terrace and Casey Jones played regularly and the town was a stop for pretty much any band playing through North Florida. So naturally, I gravitated towards those types of people. I didn’t really “date” a lot of people. With the advent of Myspace and social media, there wasn’t a lot of “Dating” going on anymore. It was more, “Hey, what’s up, want to hang out?” Which almost always translated into “Wanna fuck?”

2) Were you a porn fan before you got into the industry? Who were your favorite porn stars/favorite porn movies?

The honest truth is: No, I had never watched porn before entering the industry. I was familiar with certain names, especially the performers that crossed over into the mainstream, but I never sat down and watched a pornographic film recreationally due to the fact that I already did a lot of what’s scripted and acted in adult film in my own personal life.

3) What/who do you want to do on-camera that you haven’t done yet?
Gangbang. That’s how I started having sex. I lost my virginity in one. It was my claim to fame in high school. I’m just sitting here waiting for someone to make it happen on film! 5) You seem to really love your fans and respond to your very large fan base a lot on Twitter. Tell me how having this fan base has changed your life.

Well, in an age where piracy and over-saturation is commonplace in adult film, having constant dialogue and a close connection with people whom admire and appreciate what you do is paramount. Sure, it’s still a bit surreal that people from all over the world harbor such zealous passion for me. To this day whenever someone makes a tribute page or video, or even when I find a clip someone took the time to post on XVideos, it still carries an awe-factor for me, but I’m new at this if you think about it. There’s still a whole world full of people I have to reach.

6) What’s your favorite position to get fucked in and why does it get you off?

11) What do you think is your hottest scene overall in your career as a whole?

It’ll be a tie. I have a scene coming out with Tommy Pistol for Burning Angel that’s rough and wild. That’s going to take the cake for sure. However, the scene I shot with Mr. Pete for New Sensations is more on the slower, more sensual side. Each of those scenes stand on their own while satisfying two opposing tastes. Depends on which you’re in the mood for.

12) What did you like best about working for Burning Angel?

The best thing about working for Burning Angel is that it feels like anything but “work.” It’s a family; a harmonious union of likeminded, great people that are positive and foward-thinking. I’m incredibly lucky to be involved.

13) Who are your role models in porn and how/why do they inspire you?

I’ll start with Jenna Jameson. That episode of the O’ Reilly Factor…I mean, holy shit. Sharp as a tack doesn’t even describe it. It was the same jaw dropping awe as when Manson went on the show. Second (in order, not stature) would have to be Sasha Grey for many reasons. Her utter disregard for the box people would like to place her in is mesmerizing and her intelligence, as well as her grace, is something to be fiercely admired, respected and revered. And not to brown nose here, but it’s the honest truth, Joanna Angel. To me, she’s a big middle finger to all that is mundane and bland. She’s a true entrepreneur who seems to never run out of momentum. She constantly brings her visions to life (and to critical acclaim, no less) and she makes it look so easy; a true inspiration if there ever was one.

14) What do you most want to achieve as a porn star?

I can tell you that I like not having a traditional appearance or personality. I know there’re several others paving the way for the tattooed image, and I very much admire the likes of Christy Mack and Bonnie Rotten, but I feel I have the unique opportunity to claim my own piece of the porn pie, and I intend to do so. I’m not one to aim for mediocrity. In these coming months, I’m taking things up a notch and then some. I’d say, “Don’t sleep on Scarlet LaVey” but then again, I doubt you’d be able to if you tried. 15) What is the best mainstream movie you have seen recently?

Dragon Ball Z - Battle of Gods…period. Saw it in theaters on opening night.

16) How about the best porno movie? Is there someone whose movies you like to watch who is working now?

Anything by Jonni Darkko and Axel Braun.

17) Are you into toys to get yourself off alone or are you a low-tech woman?

19) What is coming up for you?

A ton! I have some shoots being scheduled, can’t say with who yet, but let’s just say it’s a pretty big deal. I’ve got a website being developed as we speak and I’ve been brainstorming some ideas for a little startup production company of my own with some great people.

I’m preparing for some public appearances. Most notably, I’ll be at the Burning Angel booth at Exxxotica in Edison, New Jersey this November. I’m nominated for an award at the Nightmoves Awards in Tampa which I’ll be attending. That’s in October. Incidentally, that same weekend, my husband’s launching his pro-audio software company called Infernal Love at the Audio Engineering Society Convention in Los Angeles and while I won’t be in town for it, I’m helping him get ready for the booth and the after-party he’s hosting on the roof of our condo at the W Hotel Hollywood. I’ll be working the booth with him at the NAMM Convention however, so anyone going to that will definitely be able to find me there. Furthermore, given the type of technology they’re developing, we’re planning on having a booth at AVN as well!

Most exciting of all I would say, I have a comic book series that’s currently in the preliminary writing and development stages. It’s a new venture for me but the storyline and concept is so awesome! I can’t wait to unleash that unto the world!
