After spending a year living in Seoul I was under the impression that South Korea was fairly liberated in regards to sexuality. I mean, hookers are widely accepted there and they even have vending machines scattered all around that sell tubes of lube and sex toys like it's no big deal. Sometimes I am wrong; however, and a recent Korean divorce case in which porn addiction was ruled as grounds for divorce serves as further proof of that fact!
Seoul family court dealt with an interesting case this past Tuesday in which a woman used her husband's Internet porn addiction as the reasoning behind her seeking a divorce after 40 years of marriage. Supposedly, she married the man after dating him for only six months due to being attracted to his religious devotion. Obviously she was in for a big surprise when she found out that the man who she believed to be religiously devout was addicted to porn! Her husband is also facing charges for allegedly spreading videos across the Internet of the couple having sex. I almost forgot to mention that he also stands accused of being abusive. This guy sounds like a real winner.
Let's be real, there's a difference between being addicted to porn and simply being an all around d-bag. There are plenty of porn addicts out there who don't go around beating their wives or spreading secretly filmed sex tapes across the web. Your heart might be in the right place Korea, but I just don't think that pornography was the real problem here. Regardless of where you're from, let this serve as a reminder of the fact that you probably shouldn't get married after only knowing someone for six months. They might just end up being a porn addicted abusive d-bag in disguise!
