FMH and Zoo Magazines To Stop Publication at the End of the Year

Who Will Rank the Sexiest People of the Year Now?

While it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, it’s kind of sad to say that FMH and Zoo will stop printing at the end of the year nonetheless. Sure, print media is slowly dying, but that doesn’t make it any less hard to no longer have the annual FHM 100 sexiest list.  

This is mostly a reflection of people moving away from print to an online market, but Bauer Media (the publisher of both FHM and Zoo) has been seeing a constant decline in readers and traffic on their websites, too. Even though FHM and Zoo were very popular over the last 20 years, mostly due to the beautiful nude women inside, sales kept going down by double digits. Gareth Cherriman, a Bauer publisher, released a statement that said, in part:  

“I greatly appreciate [editor-in-chief] Damien McSorley’s leadership and the dedication and effort from both teams ... I would like to thank our advertisers and retailers who have supported the brands and I’m sure that everyone who has worked on FHM and Zoo over the years will be sorry to hear this news.”  

It’s a bummer to see both FMH and Zoo go by the wayside, but maybe they will find a way to come back in a different digital form. I know I’m not alone is saying it won’t be the same without them.
