Jennifer Lawrence Needed a Few Drinks to Get Through Her First On-Screen Sex Scene

J-Law Got Buzzed Before Gettin' Hot and Heavy With Chris Pratt

I have often said that being an actor is probably a difficult job, especially when it comes to filming a sex scene. It’s probably hard to pretend you are in the throes of passion with someone when you are being watching by about 30 people. One would think that doing your first on-screen sex scene is doubly difficult, even for an Oscar winner like Jennifer Lawrence, who had to have a couple of drinks before making out with Chris Pratt.

In the upcoming sci-fi movie Passengers, Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt are two passengers on a spaceship taking thousands of people to a distant colony planet, but when the spacecraft’s cryogenic sleep chambers breaks down, Pratt decides to wake up another traveler (Lawrence) instead of dying alone. Even though Jennifer Lawrence has faced a lot of acting challenges, she found this one a little more difficult than the others.

“Everything was done right; nobody did anything wrong. It’s just a bizarre experience,” she said. “It’s really weird.”

So, to calm herself, Lawrence did what most of us have done, had a drink or two (or twelve) to relax. It didn’t work so well for her.

“It led to more anxiety when I got home because I was like, ‘What have I done? I don’t know,’" she said. “He was married, and it was going to be my first time kissing a married man, and guilt is the worst feeling in your stomach. “I knew it was my job, but I couldn’t tell my stomach that. So I called my mom and I was like, ‘Will you just tell me it’s okay?’ It was just very vulnerable. That was the most vulnerable I’ve ever been.”

It kind of makes you wonder how nervous Chris Pratt was. I mean, he got to make out with one of the sexiest women alive and he gets the privilege of saying he was her “first.” Passengers is set for release in December.
