William H. Will Be Giving Us New Sensations

Director William H. has joined the roster of directors at New Sensations, delivers an excellent visual tone to his work and it will be absolutely fantastic to see how it melds with what New Sensations does. As I said in a previous story, he has some more butt and squirt-centric releases on the way. This is H.'s first interview since he made the move to New Sensations, and this move changes porn's creative landscape quite a bit.

What kind of guy were you back in high school? Did you always love using cameras?

"In high school, I was an artist and musician. My band at the time won the talent show. For art class, I did a project using my father’s 8 millimeter camera from the 60s to record a friend of mine dressed like a demented mime picking up burning Barbie and GI Joe dolls and placing them in a birdcage. I also wrote the music used for it. Very crazy, but I got an A+."

Were you a porn fan before you got into the industry? Who were your favorite porn stars/favorite porn movies?

"I was a fan of porn. My father’s sock drawer is where I got my first movies on VHS. I was a fan of Ginger Lynn, Nina Hartley, Stephanie Swift. My favorite movies from that time were Taboo, Behind the Green Door, New Wave Hookers, and The Adventures of Big Bad Mama Jamma."

What do you think shaped you into the director that you are today?

"Learning what works and what doesn't. Never forget to shoot with your dick."

Who is your favorite male performer/female performer to shoot and why?

"There are some great male performers, but if I can only choose one than I would have to say Manuel Ferrara. I have seen girls melt in his arms, fall in love, and cry from intense orgasms. You don't need to tell him anything. You don't tell Manuel Ferrara how to fuck. He has a great understanding of what the camera and girl needs. There are so many great girls, but I can only pick one so I have to say Veronica Rodriguez—beautiful, cute, sexy, and incredibly down to earth, great attitude."

What can you share about "Bigger Wetter Asses"?

"When I took over the Big Wet Asses line at Elegant Angel, I had already filmed the first six editions for then director Thomas Zupko. My first edition was number 7, and I did not want to stray too far from what he had done. When it was time for me to do number 8, I thought, 'This is my line now. I'm going to do my vision.' That's when the all-white look was born, and I have been doing it ever since. It has won best anal series or big butt series at least ten years in a row at AVN. People still write to me saying how they love the look, so it's a formula that's proven successful—I think because all the focus is on the girl. There is nothing else to look at but the girl. That's one of the reasons why I believe that it continues to be successful.

What is one thing that you think that a lot of porn directors get wrong about the way that they create a scene?

"I would rather not tell the competition what they are doing wrong. A vague answer would be I think they overthink things."

What are the best things about being a porn director?

"Being around beautiful, naked women during the workday . . . how can I complain about that?"

What made you choose to cast Veronica Rodriguez as the lead for your first New Sensations star showcase?

"Ever since I first shot Veronica, I knew she was special and I always thought she deserved a showcase movie."

What do you like most about directing for New Sensations so far?

"[New Sensations President] Scott Taylor has been very cool and supportive with me. I was also very impressed with the casting department. Everyone I've met so far has been very cool. It's a very good vibe at the office and they seem like a happy family."

Who are your role models in porn and how/why do they inspire you?

"Patrick Collins was a role model for me. I learned a great deal from him. He was kind of like a dad to me for 14 years. He's the one who introduced me to the business, took me to Europe every year, and gave me many opportunities. In the beginning, I was taking my own stills, doing my own camera, and designing and making my own box covers. He told me, 'The more you learn, the more value you are to my company.' So I learned as much as I could."

What else can we look for in your upcoming releases?

"I don't want to give away too much, but I would like to start shooting new faces and keep things fresh." 

What is the best mainstream movie you have seen recently?

"Don Jon, starring Julianne Moore, Scarlett Johansson, and Tony Danza. I liked it because they used many shots from many of my movies. I'd say about 85 percent of the porno scenes in that movie were shots from my movies, so that was cool seeing my footage on the big screen."

What work have you enjoyed of your fellow New Sensations directors?

"From everything I've seen, I was very impressed with the lead these guys do before the sex happens—the lighting wand they got, great acting performances from the talent. I actually got a hard-on from watching the lead-ups so that's pretty impressive. They were visually stunning. I felt like I was watching a soap opera from television."

What do you like to do for fun?

"I like writing music, playing my guitar, recording, and playing Grand Theft Auto . . . and hanging out with my two cats, Chopper and Deuce."

If you could cast any celebrities to do an epic sex scene for you, who would you cast? Give us your male and female choices and tell us what you would ask of them.

"I would shoot Sarah Palin with the cast of The Deadliest Catch crew in a blowbang scene called 'Alaskan Crab Boat Suck-Off'."
