Hulk Hogan Gets $115 million verdict against Gawker in Sex Tape Lawsuit

Does This Mean We Can Stop Talking About Hulk Hogan's Penis?

Before I go on, I feel like I should say that I have never nor will I ever see the Hulk Hogan sex tape. It has nothing to do with my opinion on privacy vs. free speech and the press; it’s just have no desire to see Hulk Hogan nude. With that being said, Hulk Hogan just got $115 million from Gawker for the releasing of his sex tape—OH YEAH, BROTHER!

If you have been following this case, good for you, and I hope you can now find something else to fill your time with, the founder of Gawker Nick Denton got his hands on a sex tape that featured Hulk Hogan going to the mat (wrestling pun) with his best friend’s—Bubba the Love Sponge's—wife. Gawker not only put the tape on its website, but provided commentary on the onscreen action. In return, Hogan smacked Gawker with a lawsuit and the jury agreed with Hogan and awarded him $115 million. After the verdict Nick Denton responded by saying:

"Given key evidence and the most important witness were both improperly withheld from this jury, we all knew the appeals court will need to resolve the case," he said. " I want to thank our lawyers for their outstanding work and am confident that we would have prevailed at trial if we had been allowed to present the full case to the jury. That's why we feel very positive about the appeal that we have already begun preparing, as we expect to win this case ultimately."

While Hogan’s legal time stated:

"We're exceptionally happy with the verdict. We think it represents a statement as to the public's disgust with the invasion of privacy disguised as journalism. The verdict says no more."

It can hard to understand in this day and age that someone would be upset about the release of their sex tape consider there are some people who are famous because of their sex tape, but even if you knew you were being recorded that doesn’t mean you the world to see you getting it on. Yes, I believe in freedom of speech and freedom of the press, but also believe that Gawker is more clickbait than news. I’m sure this isn’t the last we’ve heard about Hulk Hogan and his penis . . . sadly.
