“Fifty Shades Darker” Gets a Hard R, Not an NC-17 Rating

The Nudity Will Probably Still Be Awesome

If you were hoping that the sequel to Fifty Shades of Grey – Fifty Shades Darker was going to get an NC-17 rating, I hate to be the one to tell you it’s not going to happen. Yep, the film is getting a hard R, emphasis on the hard, when it hits theaters next February.  

Honestly, I go back and forth on whether or not Fifty Shades Darker getting an R rating is a good thing or not. While it probably does expand the audience a little bit, if it had an NC-17, the sex scenes would have probably been pretty great. Though it should be noted that first film, Fifty Shades of Grey had an R rating, and it had some pretty awesome nudity and sex scenes. Alas, the MPAA felt NC-17 wasn’t warranted, but the film will have "strong erotic sexual content, some graphic nudity and language."  

Yeah, that sounds about right. And whether you are a fan of the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise or not, one thing you have enjoy about the films is (and will be) all the great nudity. Sure, we could go on and on and on for hours about the authenticity of bondage and the dom/sub relationship, but instead, let’s just enjoy the nudity together.
