OnlyFans Owner Leonid Radvinsky Dies at 43

NEWS & PRESS

Leonid Radvinsky, the Ukrainian-American entrepreneur who transformed OnlyFans into a global digital powerhouse, has died at the age of 43 following a prolonged battle with cancer, the company confirmed today (March 23, 2026).

Leo Radvinsky

“We are deeply saddened to announce the death of Leo Radvinsky. Leo passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer,” an OnlyFans spokesperson said in a statement. “His family have requested privacy at this difficult time.”

Leo Radvinsky, who acquired OnlyFans’ parent company, Fenix International, in 2018, served as its director and majority shareholder. Under his ownership, the London-based platform expanded rapidly, evolving from a niche subscription service into a mainstream digital marketplace connecting millions of creators with paying audiences.

Founded in 2016 by British entrepreneur Tim Stokely, OnlyFans saw explosive growth during the COVID-19 pandemic, when lockdowns drove both creators and consumers online. The platform’s model, which allows users to charge subscription fees and receive tips, proved especially lucrative. The company takes a 20 percent share of creator earnings, a structure that generated billions in transactions and hundreds of millions in dividends.

By 2024, OnlyFans reported more than 300 million users and over 4 million creators worldwide. Its reach extended beyond adult entertainment to include fitness instructors, musicians, and other digital entrepreneurs, though it remained best known for explicit content.

Radvinsky’s tenure was also marked by scrutiny. Regulators in the United Kingdom investigated the platform over age verification concerns, while lawmakers and advocacy groups raised questions about content moderation and user safety. In 2021, OnlyFans briefly announced a ban on sexually explicit material, citing pressure from payment processors, but reversed the decision within days amid backlash from creators.

Born in Odesa, Ukraine, and raised in Chicago, Leo Radvinsky was a first-generation immigrant who studied economics at Northwestern University, where he graduated as valedictorian. His early career included launching adult websites as a teenager, later expanding into broader technology ventures.

In 2004, he founded MyFreeCams, a live-streaming platform that positioned performers as independent creators. The site became one of the largest in the cam industry and laid the groundwork for his later success with OnlyFans.

Beyond adult platforms, he was active in venture capital through his firm, Leo, established in 2009. The fund focused primarily on technology startups, including investments in open source software initiatives. He was also known for philanthropic contributions to medical research and for advancing technology accessibility, including donations to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

During his ongoing battle with cancer, ownership of his shares had been transferred to a trust in 2024.

In recent months, Radvinsky had reportedly explored the sale of a majority stake in OnlyFans. It was widely reported that he was in serious talks with Architect Capital, in a deal that valued the site at around $5.5 billion, including debt. Excluding the debt, the deal would value OnlyFans at nearly $3.5 billion.

Architect apparently sees potential to develop infrastructure at OnlyFans to pay "under-banked" creators, ‍according to a presentation sent to the firm's investors that was seen by the Wall Street Journal.

It's unclear whether that deal ever went through, but those close to the situation say the talks were in the final stages.

Leo's death comes at a time when the platform he helped scale continues to face both commercial opportunity and regulatory pressure. The future leadership and direction of OnlyFans have not yet been publicly outlined, as ownership was transferred to the trust in 2024. He clearly spent a lot of time preparing for this enviable day, and no service disruption is expected.

He will be remembered as a pivotal figure in the evolution of online content monetization, credited with helping shift the economics of digital media toward direct creator-to-consumer relationships.

Leo Radvinsky made a real difference in many people's lives. And I don't just mean in a small way. Sure, he's made more than a few girls millionaires, but he's also helped smaller, lesser-known girls be able to survive and pay their rent.

OnlyFans empowered women to take control of their lives, their likenesses, and their earnings. While we must credit Tim Stokely for launching the site, it was under Leo's leadership that everything changed, and without a platform like OnlyFans, many wouldn't have been able to pay their rent or feed their children.

OnlyFans allowed thousands of women to get out from the control of predatory men in their lives and be able to support themselves. This is the story we don't often talk about. OnlyFans truly did empower women in a way that historians will no doubt be talking about decades from now.

I've worked in the adult industry for a long time now, actually, this August marks my 3rd decade, and in that time, I've seen many things, both good and bad. But OnlyFans is one single thing that has made the largest difference (in a positive way) in many vulnerable women's lives, and for that reason alone, I will always be grateful.

Leo Radvinsky was just a man, true. But because of his company, many women have a life they'd not have had otherwise.

Let me now share with you some of the kind things beings said about him after creators learned of his passing.
