Would You Pay $350 for Grindr? Here's What You Get
For those of us who use Grindr Xtra, you will have noticed a slight price increase to the monthly subscription. Over the past couple of years, that mount has crept up slowly, but surely. Starting in March, it will jump from $19.99 to $22.99. Not a huge jump, but if you calculate that by the number of users that use the Xtra service, they are taking home a big chunk of change. Granted, the app has added many bells and whistles in the last two years, including a real-time chat roll that mimics Sniffies. They've also added roaming and travel features, unsend, expiring photos, and other privacy features. We are going to be very honest here: we log on to Grindr just about every day, but the majority of our hookups (and even dates) have come from Sniffies. Bloop!
The gays went crazy recently when Grindr announced its white-glove service called Edge, using AI. This service will cost users a whopping $349.99 a month. What?? Indeed. Now, before everyone loses their minds, this service is made for the gay on the go. That business gay with money to drop because they are too busy to handle their hookups. Grindr will take care of that for you. Here's what you get:
The A-List
Grindr will take note of lengthy and in-depth conversations had and remind you what your guys are up to. This helps with old messages or guys that you meant to respond to but just didn't have time to, or forgot about. It gives you their picture and a summary of what you talked about. It will even capture the tone that you guys chatted in - sexy or romantic.
Discover
This is a no-brainer. Grindr will send you a daily list of suggestions of guys based on your preferences and attraction. It's like a daily hookup menu. This saves time from scrolling through profiles that definitely would be a no-go.
Insights
Edge will also give you a quick summary of a guy's profile, letting you know what type of guy they are likely to hook up with. Position, age, and tribe match are included, as well as a percentage of how likely they are to respond to you. It will even tell you what time of day they are using the app most.
The AI features can be turned on and off, and according to Grindr's blog, Edge has a user's privacy at the top of the priority list.
Edge has been tested in Australia and New Zealand, and is hitting select US cities in beta form.
