With the Olympic Winter Games coming up in Milan starting this weekend, folks are eager to see who their new favorites will become, rooting for athletes they've been following, and most importantly, trying to figure out which ones play for our team! Luckily, The Advocate recently published a comprehensive list of all the out Olympians competing this year, those who have stated in interviews, come out on their own, or shared their truths on their social media. Sorry, ladies, but we're gonna focus on the dudes here. While the last Summer Olympics in Paris were the queerest by far with 196 out athletes, these Winter Games will only have 41. Still, for the American team, their out men and women make up 3% of the total participants.
So let's meet some of them!
Conor is a US speed skater who "crushed the men’s 1000-metre race" at the trials in Milwaukee. Unfortunately, he'll be all cozily dressed in his regulation uniform for his races, and won't be showing off his lithe bod as witnessed above in what appears to be an underwear ad! (It's not.)
Okay, you have to go check out Paul's Instagram account to get the full scope of the hotness of this Canadian ice dancer. Why? Because the bright smiling face in costumes with his partner Piper Gilles don't give you the level of brooding intensity and pure physical prowess this guy emits through his pics. Look at those thighs! You won't see those exposed at the games, his fourth Olympics so far (and third with Piper.) There are pics of him with his partner, or looking devastatingly handsome in black and white repose. Also, he moves on the ice really well!
This handsome Scotsman, along with his skating partner, with the most awesome name ever Lilah Fear, is favored to win a medal this year, as they currently hold a first-place ranking with the ISU World Standings. They came in tenth at the Beijing Games four years ago.
Aren't you glad I'm not showing him in full winter gear surrounded by snow? I mean, could this homo bro be any hotter?! This will be Gus's fourth Olympics. He made a bit of history eight years ago with a televised kiss with his BF at the time at the 2018 Games. Born in Essex, England, his family moved to Telluride when he was two, and he began his skiing career with the Americans. In 2019, he switched to skiing for his birth country. He "retired" in 2022, and is returning to the slopes this year. If he looks familiar, he has also done a lot of film and TV work, notably RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars (2018), the 2024 remake of Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead, Will and Grace, and American Horror Story: 1984.
How about another cutie-pie Scot? Does he ooze the same sex appeal as Gus Kenworthy? Nope. Is he involved in the sexiest of categories? Uh...curling? What the hell even is that? And yer boy Hank here should know; I'm from Wisconsin! But did he bring home a silver from Beijing four years ago, and is he ready for the gold this time around? You bet yer sweet haggis he is! BRUCE! BRUCE! BRUCE!
Guillame is working with a new partner this year, Laurence Fournier Beaudry. Let's see if the same magic that brought him and his former partner the gold at Beijing in 2022, a silver in 2018, and five world titles continues in Milan.
Who will you be rooting for?
