Sexy Celebs Spice Up Life with Hot Sauce Challenges – Round 8

POP CULTURE

Summertime and the living’s sweaty. But no matter how hot it is across the continental USA, it’s nothing like the heat these five ladies endure after they accept Hot Ones’ host Sean Evans’ Hot Sauce Challenge. In this eighth installment of the online franchise, 10 sauces with varying spice intensities make their way into celebrities’ mouths via a humble battered chicken wing or its vegan equivalent. Their brave struggles are enchanting but they are not alone, as Sean eats his own spicy wings and asks questions that will make you laugh and think. The seventh entry in the Hot Sauce Challenge can be found here.

Ana de Armas

Ana de Armas is a beauty, of course. She is also a talented, multi-award-nominated actress. That means nothing when confronted by Sean Evans and a row of spicy chicken wings. She admits she is “not ready,” but uses her John Wick: Ballerina fight scene pain tolerance skills to handle what the wings dole out. “This is good. I like it. I’m doing good. This is great. It was yummy,” she says after her first sauce. This leads to more unexpected pleasure. Also, giggling. No longer fearing the sauce, she shares her terror of singing in the movie Eden. “I hated it. It was horrible. I was terrified.” She loves a good mojito and Cuban “comfort food,” though. She declares it “really condimented,” and spiced but not too hot. That doesn’t describe Da Bomb sauce. That is “beyond insanity” and inspires coughs, clear sinuses, nervous laughter, a flushed face with a perspiration sheen, and an amazing story about puking chunky baby food. All this with her lawyer in the studio audience.

Dakota Johnson

“I’m not. I’m not. I’m not. I’m not going to be able to survive,” actress Dakota Johnson cries out before things even get spicy. “I’m scared. This one’s fine, right? I won’t cry?” She does not cry after her first spicy wing. What she does is suck the sauce off her fingers and proclaim in surprise, “I like that one. Tasty.” Yet still the casually dressed thespian frets. “Today is going to be my last day,” she moans as she soldiers through the chicken wings and sauces. When she’s not prophesying her own death by spicy chicken wing, she regales host Sean Evans with answers about growing up on set with her actor parents, learning to drive a golf cart at six, German expressionist dance, her fondness for mango and loathing for pickled garlic. She also suggests the show include ranch dressing along with ice water, gluten-free beer, milk, and ice cream. Mostly she tells Evan how much she hates what she’s eating. After removing her jacket, she thanks him for ruining her life, explains why people like happy endings of the non-sexual kind, and assures him, “I’m so happy I did it.”

Eiza González

Pretty actress Eiza González thinks her Mexican heritage might give her an advantage. Instead, she proves she can cry on command and when over-spiced. She respects the spice and sometimes she even likes it. Of course, with these saucy chicken wings, it’s not a long way from happy face to shocked spice face. We see this transition several times and we hear her express fear for her life even more. “You monster! Who are you,” she demands after a wing and before she calls out for her mother. When not suffering, she talks about Guy Ritchie’s snap decision to make her sing in German. She did not know German. She says her first audition “scarred me for life.” It might have prepared her for the searing heat of the spice, which she says is flushing the Botox out of her body. She wants to cry, she coughs, she drinks water, she fears for her life, she dreads her final wing. “Hmm… I like this taste,” she reveals in surprise before shouting, “Oh, God!” and returning to her world of hurt, which Evan asks her to sketch.

Lady Gaga

It’s strange to see Lady Gaga dressed kinda like a normal person. Her all-white ensemble, complete with a huge white floral bundle, goes well with her pale skin, pale blonde hair, and minimal cosmetics. “Is this safe,” she asks host Sean Evans innocently. She’s “focused and determined,” as she encounters Thai flavors, pepper, tongue numbness, and a surprising tolerance for spicy hot wings. She even finds a few that she really likes. Between glasses of water, worrying about what spice is next, and being amazed at how much Sean knows about her, she talks about her days as a waitress, how she pretended to be her own manager to get gigs early on, went bankrupt with Shakira due to props, and doesn’t feel “entertaining right now.” Oh, she is, trust me, especially when she says, “It’s been real, Sean,” as she prepares for her last spicy chicken wing.

Lisa

White Lotus acting debutante Lisa normally sings and dances for a living. In multiple languages. The former member of BLACKPINK admits that she’s super nervous and not a fan of hot sauced food, although she loves her Thai homeland’s spices. She vows to make her people proud and finds it easy with the first wing. “It’s yummy. It’s good,” she says. After the house brand sauce, she informs her host, “I need this in my house.” This remains her opinion until she encounters spicy chicken wing sauce number seven. She dabs her pretty face with a tissue, laughs, and coughs. Before that, she tells host Sean Evans about how different rapping in English is from Korean, compliments Sean’s skin, and recommends a face mask. “Wow! It doesn’t go away,” she remarks about the spice. “I love pushing myself. I love pushing myself,” she assures at sauce number 10 before she sketches a cat. She has five at home. And a dog. A big dog.
