Sexy Celebs Spice Up Life with a Hot Sauce Challenge – Round 4

POP CULTURE

It’s not just these five celebrity beauties who are hot. It’s also what goes into their mouths when they visit Hot Ones host Sean Evans and do their best to savor and survive 10 levels of hot sauce on chicken wings while being interviewed. Evans is not a fool. He sits, eats, and chats with his guests from the other side of two round tables which, theoretically, puts him out of range of any projectile vomiting that might occur. The third entry into the Hot Sauce Challenge can be found here. Now, let us move on to the suffering of another five beautiful and accomplished women.

Elizabeth Olsen

Probably known best as Wanda Maximoff (aka Scarlet Witch) in WandaVision and other releases within the Marvel Universe, Elizabeth Olsen is also related to the talented but kinda spooky Olsen twins. Like many before her, Wing 1 and Wing 2 leave her feeling confident. “They’re pretty good,” she observes. Wing 3, however, catches her attention. “I’m, like, panicking inside my chest now,” she explains while fanning her face. Things improve with Wing 4, which she notes is “Smokey with a sweetness to it.” She identifies pineapple and hints of ginger in Wing 5, but Wing 6 changes the game for her tastebuds. “It’s too big,” she proclaims. “I knew that. It was a bad idea.” Wing 7 catches her attention and inspires her to say, “That one really wants to surprise you upfront.” As she approaches her goal, Wing 8 is a challenge. The sauce is called Da Bomb and for Olsen, it is. “What is that? I don’t like it. I don’t like it at all.” She sticks her tongue out in hopes of cooling it down but maintains her overall self-control. After Da Bomb, Wing 9 is easy-peasy. Host Evans assures her that it’s clear sailing from here. “Everything in life becomes a little easier,” he explains. Wing 10 is so uneventful that we don’t even get to see Olsen consume it. We do, however, get to join her in celebration when she shouts, “I did okay!” Evans agrees and dishes out his approval, telling her she didn’t just do okay, she was “amazing.”

Florence Pugh

From the Virgin Mary in a school nativity play to the title character in Marvel’s Black Widow and Princess Irulan in Dune: Part Two, Florence Pugh’s most challenging role was surviving 10 levels of hot sauce on Sean Evans’ Hot Ones. As is so often the case, she’s fine until Wing 4, when she realizes that things are only going to get more intense because her upper lip starts to sweat. She dabs at it with a white cloth napkin and moves on to Wing 5. This earns an “All hands up” reaction, followed by an observation that “I’m just figurin’ out where it goes” after Wing 6. She finds out as the heat builds, her eyes get wider, and she exclaims, “Whoa!” That’s nothing compared to Wing 7. She does a swaying dance in her chair to process the pain after she declares the sauce to be “really bad.” Not as bad as Wing 8, though. That makes her eyes get big and round, and she asks if she can spit it out. Wing 9 inspires a scream and review of “It’s like eating battery acid.” A tear forms and rolls down her right cheek. She wipes her forehead with a red cloth napkin and exclaims, “Oh, my God! I’m sweating from my eyebrows!” Wing 10 is a mystery. She takes a deep breath, says “See ya on the other side,” bites into it, and the video ends. Presumably, she survived the encounter.

Quinta Brunson

You know Hot Ones host Sean Evans is being a little deceptive, and encouraging, when he tells Abbott Elementary’s Quinta Brunson “There’s nothing to be scared of” as she begins Wing 1. She looks nervous as she begins Wing 2, which earns a “Smokey J” response. Nervousness turns to apprehension and intense focus when Wing 3 results in a startled “Oh! Oh! This one has got a little fight in her.” She’s proud of herself when she noshes on Wing 4, proclaiming that “I’m kinda eatin’ this so far literally and figuratively.” Wing 5, on the other hand, seems to be eating her. She looks down, purses her lips, and lets the sensation wash through her. It gets serious when Wing 6 arrives. “That’s six down,” Evans comforts her as she looks distressed, coughs a few times, and says “Oh, no! This one’s comin’ for me.” Aware that things are only going to get hotter, she sniffs Wing 7 and looks uncertain. Evans will have none of it and tells her to stop smelling the wing. “I know,” she replies without popping it in her mouth. The heat requires emergency measures, so her first glass of milk since she was a baby appears. “This is crazy right now,” she exclaims after eating Wing 8 and guzzling more milk. “Oh, my God! It’s so hot!” She swishes with more milk and admits that “It’s still fightin’.” In hopes of missing her taste buds, she tosses Wing 9 far back in her mouth. “You gotta take it like a shot,” she observes. When she survives Wing 10, she puts her fist to her mouth and can do no more.

Serena Williams

This clip plays the full 21 minutes and is filled with praise for one of the greatest female tennis champs the world has known, Serena Williams. She’s excited to eat hot chicken wings, which are her favorites. Her goal is to be strong, although she’s not sure how strong she’ll be. During the full Hot Ones’ footage, each sauce bottle is shown, and its Scoville Level is revealed. That’s the capsaicinoid concentration. Some are super concentrated. Interestingly, Williams tells host Sean Evans that she thinks Wing 1 was hotter than Wing 2. Wing 3 brings out the chatter and a warning that she might grunt while eating it. “Do people always eat their wings,” she asks, “or am I just greedy? I haven’t eaten today. I was saving all my calories for the whole week for this.” Wing 4 earns an “Oh!” Wing 5 finds her getting full and “trying to stay on my feet.” She takes two bites, recommends a toaster oven to keep the wings warm, doesn’t look happy, coughs, drinks some water, and says “This is some fire.” Wing 6 is seasoned with Red Flag, which she compares to “some guys I dated.” Wing 7 is from Da Bomb, which she proclaims to be “really hot.” It requires milk, hard coughs, and the answer to “How do you recover?” The answer is to stand up and eat ice cream. “That was nuts. I took a bite and instantly had heartburn!” Instead of punching him, which she wants to do, she moves on to Wing 8 and Wing 9, sobbing “I don’t wanna do this!” More ice cream. Wing 10 is the Last Dab Experience and Williams says “My hurt hurts. My chest hurts. I don’t know what I got myself into,” takes another tiny bite and concludes, “I never thought I would let you beat me at chicken wings.”

Zoe Saldana

She was a dancer before she became the star of Avatar, played Gamora in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy movies, and embodied the iconic Nyota Uhura in Star Trek. While a guest on Hot Ones, Zoe Saldana makes a confession to host Sean Evans after Wing 1. She breezes through it and Wing 2. Then she admits that she brushed her teeth earlier and worried that the wings might get so hot she will forget her English. The daughter of Dominican and Puerto Rican parents, she remains calm while she savors and identifies the pico in Wing 3. I’m not sure what she means when she says Wing 4 “feels like a surprise encounter with an ex,” but it doesn’t sound pleasant. She keeps her cool as she approaches Wing 5 but it’s obvious, she’s feelin’ the heat. “This one feels like an ex from the same sex, actually,” she concludes. Let’s hope Wing 6 doesn’t remind her of anyone she’s ever known because after eating it she says, “I’m trying to be tough, but no.” She wipes her nose with her hand, sniffs, and faces Wing 7 with courage. She observes that it has a “disco angel” on its label, and then the angel hits her hard. She opens her mouth in shock and fans herself. She knows Wing 8 will be a challenge and once it’s in her mouth, she coughs and cries out twice in pain. She remains silent, if unhappy, during Wing 9. When Wing 10 shows up, she’s clearly in terror for her life. Evans assures her that she doesn’t have to eat it and she responds with “I think I’m going to go back to my hotel and cry.”
