Movie News: Hotties Michael B Jordan, Daniel Craig, & Barry Keoghan Lead Headlines

I’m your Gay News Guy – this is the news, casual, sassy, unfiltered, and a little hungover. Ok here’s this week's MOVIE NEWS as I see it!

One of the funniest ladies on TV, Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Seinfeld, Veep), is joining the MCU with her role as Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine in Thunderbolts*. She told The New York Times that this movie, unlike other MCU iterations, will be focused on the human story rather than CGI fare. We just hope Kramer barges in at one point.

Bad Boys: Ride or Die has done surprisingly well at the box office in its first weekend out. Though looking a little long in the tooth, the franchise stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence said they would return for a Bad Boys 5 if the story was compelling enough. I mean, what else are they doing? Smith needs a hit and Lawrence, well, he’s been out of the spotlight.

In other Will Smith news, he will be joined by Michael B Jordan (yummy) for I Am Legend 2, although a script is yet to be finalized. If you are an I Am Legend fan, you may be asking, how can Will Smith return, he died! In the DVD release, there was an alternate ending that showed his character surviving – that will fuel the sequel. Gotta love Hollywood!

Did you watch the successful Hellraiser reboot? Well, Hellraiser 2 is rumored to be in development with its producer saying it will be even crazier. It was a bit all over the place, but was artistic and featured a trans actor so…we are in!

SpongeBob SquarePants fans? Franchise character Plankton is getting his own movie, a musical 3-D animated Netflix standalone film. This will come out the same year another SpongeBob movie is coming out.

Angry Birds 3 is on the way. WHY???? Jason Sudeikis and Josh Gad from the original film will return. Again, WHYYYY??? Does anyone still play Angry Birds anyway?

The Road House reboot starring a hunky and muscly Jake Gyllenhaal (do you know how many times I have to look up his name to remember how to spell it???) is getting a sequel. We aren’t really concerned about the storyline, we just want to make sure there are more shirtless man-to-man fighting scenes.

Dancing naked hottie Barry Keoghan will be playing one of The Beatles for the biopic film directed by Sam Mendes. The news was leaked online, but Sony is being quiet about confirming.

Hollywood is getting quick! Not only does it continue to make movies based on books, but it's now basing films on books not even been released yet! Hunger Games is getting another bump with a new novel, Sunrise on the Reaping, being released in March of next year. The movie version will follow the year after. This iteration takes place 40 years after the prequel film, Songbirds and Snakes. Songbirds was a good addition to the franchise but didn’t really become the success the original trilogy was.

Daniel Craig’s new look was revealed on day 1 of set filming for Knives Out 3. He has long hair. We are not a fan. We like the short, clean-cut haircut from his Bond days. He’s turning from daddy to grandaddy before our very eyes.

We reported previously that there was a The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum prequel movie coming out. Ian McKellen said he would gladly return as Gandalf…and followed up by saying “if I’m alive.” The movie is set to be released in 2026.

Barbie was a huge movie success to be sure. Mattel is banking on that success for a Monster High live action movie. Monster High is Mean Girls meets Hot Topic. It would be a fun film to watch and we’d love to see a scene where they kick Barbie’s ass.

Even though the Beetlejuice films are titled after its main character, he actually only appeared in the first film for about 17 minutes. Michael Keaton recently stated that he insisted on the same for the sequel, too much Beetlejuice is too much, less is more. That’s a pretty good paycheck for 17 minutes of film!

Toy Story 5 has found its director in Andrew Stanton. Stanton has been a part of Pixar and, more specifically, the Toy Story franchise since its beginning. Tim Allen is confirmed to return as Buzz, but Tom Hanks has yet to be confirmed. Allen said the story would be surprising. Hmmm…do we finally get to see a Woody and Buzz kiss? That would be surprising!
