You can tell your sordid tales openly, anonymously, or just listen to everyone else’s!
Hey Fleshbot fans! Remember how I told you about Bawdy Storytelling, where people get up on stage (or online) and share their sex stories with total strangers? Well, the spiritual sibling of Bawdy is Smut Slam, a multi-country recurring sexual storytelling open mic event, open to 18+ adults of all genders and sexual orientations. Smut Slam was birthed into existence by Cameryn Moore in Boston in 2011. Each teller gets five minutes to tell their tale which may or may not match whatever the theme is for the evening’s event. The rules are simple -- big ones being that the story must be true, it must have actually happened to the teller, it must be told extemporaneously without notes, costumes, or props, and it must be a story about consenting adult participants. Also, people aren’t allowed to be creepy, or heckle, or generally act like assholes, in order to make a safe space for sharing about very intimate topics. Folks who want to be a little less in the spotlight may submit anonymous confessions or questions through the Fuckbucket, entries to which are read aloud between tellers. There are local celebrities judging the tales and sex toys as prizes for the best tellers at the end of the night. It’s really a great date night idea!
This all leads me into some wonderful news for story-based exhibitionists and voyeurs from the Mid-Atlantic USA. The inimitable Diva Darling-- event host, sex educator, author, burlesque performer, and all around delightful human, hosted Smut Slam DC in person beginning in February 2016 and moved it online to Zoom during the pandemic. Life circumstances happened, as they do, and Smut Slam DC took an extended hiatus after August of 2021. Smut Slam DC will hopefully be resuming this year, so keep an eye out for that, and Diva has now launched Smut Slam Baltimore --- a brand spankin’ new event. I attended the inaugural Smut Slam Baltimore last month and even got to tell a story on stage for the first time (I had done it on Zoom previously), and we’re already almost at at the third Friday of April, and Third Friday at the Bluebird Cocktail Room now means Smut Slam!
This Friday’s theme for Smut Slam Baltimore is The Sticky Icky, owing to its position on the calendar right before 4/20. You can get tickets here for that, and check out some sights and sounds of last month’s Slam:

If you’re not in the Baltimore or DC region, don’t despair, there are slams going on all over the world as well as a Smut Slam podcast. Or maybe you want to start a Slam in your city?
