Ready. Set. HUMP! The Most Exciting Smutty Date Night

Hey, Fleshbot fans! I’ve got a treat for you today, and the good news is that if the tour will be in your city, it’s something you, too, can enjoy!

The brainchild of Dan Savage back in 2005, the HUMP! film festival bills itself as “the world’s best amateur porn film festival.” The festival is touring twice this year, with a different set of short indie adult films on each tour. Films cover all genders and sexualities and the only rules for content are pretty standard ones -- no animals, no minors, no poop.

I attended the Baltimore stop (at the fabulous Creative Alliance) on the Part One tour this past Friday, and it was so awesome. I got to watch 25 adult films for less than a dollar per movie, for my ticket price. Granted, they are a maximum of five minutes in length each, but they manage to pack a lot into a small package.

If you want to see more of these films after you attend a screening (they’re addicting!), or if public events simply aren’t your jam for some reason, there is an extensive streaming library on the HUMP! website of past films to enjoy for rental, collected into groupings, but I really found watching porn in public with other people to be an interesting and surreal experience and lots of fun. I became of legal age just as porn theaters were dying out so I never got to really experience that.

Picking a favorite among such diverse content can be really tough, so I will just say I liked them all, but a few stood out. I’m going to be careful not to spoil you too much. Bubblecum was just so aesthetic and pretty, all with the pink and bubbles, but also filthy, and it just turned a lot of traditionally gendered sex acts right on their heads, always a plus for me. I loved Best Boys Only which is a queer take (and a vast improvement!) on fraternity hazing. Beat It definitely wins the Rule 34 award. Jim Henson is rolling in his grave over this one, probably with uproarious laughter. From what I knew of the man, he enjoyed entertaining people of all ages, and would probably be amused at some of his most iconic characters doing… well, what they did in this film. Table Top Tango was the first porn film I’ve seen only starring inanimate objects. So creative and fun.

Anyone who is of legal age can make a movie and enter it for consideration to be shown at HUMP! There does not seem to be a lot of rules on amateur versus professional performers being in the films, as long as the films are independently produced. I spied Avery Jane and Isiah Maxwell (who worked together in a film), Jiz Lee, GoAskAlex, and Kali Sudhra, just to name a few, but there were many people who submitted content from their OnlyFans or similar. It even crossed my mind to see if someone wanted to make one with me to submit for next year.

HUMP! 2024 Part One is touring through June 1 through the US with some stops in Canada as well as a stop in Berlin, Germany, after which streaming options will be announced for the films from the first part of the tour. Part Two will then commence touring September 6 and continue through the fall of 2024 and you can bet I’ll purchase my ticket as soon as they go on sale!
