Explicit Bambie Thug Video Experiences Huge Viewing Surge
Bambie Thug is a 30-year-old non-binary Irish singer who originally dreamed of being a dancer, then studied musical theater and is this year’s Eurovision entrant for The Emerald Isle. No strangers to controversy, Bambie Thug and Eurovision have both remained largely silent about the appearance of the performer’s 2021 debut single music video on several adult sites.
Although Bambie Thug describes their genre of music as “Ouija pop,” it does not appear that the music video of the song “Birthday” showing up on adult sites was foreseen. Given that it features the artist naked, eating cake from between their legs, rubbing cake on their breasts, and singing about drugs until the moment a candle is lit while sticking out of their butt.
Since the Irish Mirror announced the existence of the video on several adult sites, it has been viewed at least three times per minute. One adult website is said to have shown the two-minute music video around 54,3000 times during the past two years. After the Irish Mirror revealed the existence of the video on adult sites and that Bambie Thug was the island country’s contestant entry in this year’s Eurovision competition, viewings went off the chart with an additional 4,600 within 24 hours.
The irony of the situation is that, as Irish Mirror reports, Bambie Thug told the UK Gay Times website last June they no longer perform the song, which was written during a time when they were “taking too many drugs.” Instead, they assured, “We need to parade healthy behavior.”
When asked whether Bambie Thug is an appropriate candidate for the country’s Eurovision entry, both the singer-songwriter from Macroom, County Cork, and RTÉ, the body that selects and covers the Irish entrant, replied with “No comment.” The contest will take place in Sweden next May and the non-binary performer will sing their popular song “Doomsday Blue.”
Not the first scandal to hit Eurovision, Bambie Thug’s unplanned adult site appearance is predated by a 2016 Russian contestant’s still disturbing photos. The shoot depicted the performer, Sergey Lazarev, naked on a bed while holding a saw to the face of a woman handcuffed to a radiator. Russia denied that Lazarev had a secret past in adult and claimed that the images were part of an anti-domestic violence campaign. He placed third in the Eurovision final, singing “You Are the Only One.”
