Food play, known as sitophilia when in a sexual connotation, is kink or fetish in which participants are aroused by erotic situations involving food.
Sitophiles may be aroused by the sights, sounds, or smells of foods. They may also be aroused by eating food themselves or by watching other people eat. Sitophiles may also be aroused by situations involving food, such as cooking or visiting a restaurant. Some sitophiles also use food during sexual interactions to achieve sexual gratification. Recently, this practice has been known as sploshing. In the sploshing game, people can play with various substances on their bodies or their partners' bodies.

In popular culture, we have had the opportunity to glimpse food fetishes, and some people even claim that food play (sitophilia) is one of the most common kinks. Here are some examples you’re familiar with but didn’t consider a kink:
- Women eating bananas (or similarly shaped foods) seductively and provocatively might make you think about something else that is entirely sexual.
- Maybe you’ve even become aroused watching someone lick an ice cream cone or a lollipop, even though it’s not (necessarily) meant to look erotic.
- It also includes intentional behaviors like putting chocolate or whipped cream on yourself or your partners to feel more… appetizing (WINK!).
Something interesting I found when doing my research is that China banned girls from eating bananas 'seductively' in live broadcasts in 2016. The news said: "State media reports that the government has banned filming the 'seductive' consumption of the fruit, as well as its transmission." I bet you never thought you could consider yourself lucky for being able to watch such a possibly innocent act on TV. That said, dear reader, don’t be weird and stare at people who are just trying to enjoy a fruit without being sexualized.
Sitophilia is an umbrella fetish that has many variants. In this kink, you can incorporate penis-shaped fruits and vegetables into the food game… I’m sure you can imagine what for. But don’t be fooled because it's not as simple as it may seem. Food play can be much more than drizzling melted chocolate or whipped cream on the body and licking it or using frozen fruits such as cherries or strawberries to create cooling sensations on the neck, breasts, or thighs. According to some opinions I read when writing the article, this kink is exciting because it intensifies most of our senses, such as unique textures and visual effects associated with the chosen food. Those who engage in this activity emphasize the sensual aspects of touch and messy textures. And it makes sense; who wouldn’t like to put something sweet or whatever tickles your pickle on the person you like before you taste them? I love the idea. There is something very sensual and erotic about it.
I was watching a video (for research!), and it was very enlightening. It exemplifies sploshing, and seeing other people's bodies being covered with all kinds of liquids, such as soda, and filling their mouths with bananas, among other things, for sexual gratification got me thinking about how sensations like the bubbles in soda can create erotic sensations or at least contribute to the experience. I have never partaken in food play but have begun to think about what foods I want to play with first. So, dear reader, never feel that you are the only one who might get turned on by something unusual or unexpected. Please read my post about rule 34 to find out why. Like I always say, kinks like food ply or sitophilia must be consensual and safe. Always communicate with your partners to ensure that both feel comfortable.
