Agalmatophilia: Inanimate Desires and Passions

Agalmatophilia is a kink and fetish in which people experience sexual attraction and desire for a variety of human-looking inanimate objects!

Hello, dear reader! Today, we are talking about Agalmatophilia. Agalmatophilia is a form of objectophilia, and people with this fetish experience sexual attraction and desire for a variety of inanimate objects. Some objects include statues, coffee cups, and bridges, or they may feel a unique attraction towards a specific object and form some bond or relationship with it. Agalmatophilia differs from other approaches to object sexuality because the object in question is realistic or human. That’s the key to this fetish. It has to be a replica of the living, whether realistic or not. The term agalmatophilia is not new; it arose from the myth of Pygmalion. Pygmalion was a king and sculptor who fell in love with the sculpture he had created.

After knowing this, I'm inclined to say that this kink is more common in men than women. First, because, in general, men are more sexual, but it would make sense since the first thing men see naked is a Barbie, and the tits they first touch are from a Barbie. Anyway, let’s stick to the facts. Intriguingly, people with agalmatophilia may want to have a relationship as if it were a real person; they fantasy of having a sexual encounter with the desired object, it can be animate or inanimate, the desire for real sexual contact with the object, and the desire to observe an encounter between said objects.

Although we do not think about it this way, if we analyze agalmatophilia well, we can realize that it is common and normal for humans. For example, how many people travel to New York to take photos of the Statue of Liberty, and how many idolize and love it because it symbolizes freedom? We see, then, that the love for the object is translated into the idea that the object represents. Well, the same thing with people who love objects, but the only difference is that they take it to the sexual sphere.

Furthermore, it is interesting that not all people who experience agalmatophilia feel the same way. Sometimes, they “fall in love” with a statue just once and eventually have happy relationships with humans. In other cases, they do not feel any attraction to people but a widespread and lasting attraction to objects. And in others, it is just a fleeting attraction.

Interestingly, this fetish is related to hypnofetishism and robot fetishism, which I will talk about in a future post. Still, I will say these fantasies can generally extend to role-playing games. In the case of agalmatophilia, when you search, different pages have videos with objects and videos where people role-play.

There aren’t as many videos available online about this kink when compared to the number I've been able to find when I talk about other kinks… and the same thing happens when you look for real historical cases. There are very few that you can find. A case I found was in 1877 when Krafft-Ebing recorded the case of a gardener who fell in love with a statue of the Venus de Milo and was discovered trying to have sexual relations with it. There are a few more, but they are limited. In short, it is an ancient fetish, and I’m looking forward to learning and sharing more about objectophilia.
